Clinometer
Where's a good place to buy one? I want one here now! soon! kinda soon? :D
Local place wants $400 for the one out of a Land Cruiser.... |
on ebay, there was a DOPE 4runner JDM altimeter/clinometer .... i dont know wat it sold for, but it was at $100 a few hours before closing. a local 4x4 shop here has a lil one onli clinometer for $25, lights up and everything! YOta dealers want $300 for a stock 4runner one. theres a place in Hollywood, Ca, that sells them for $150. :)
i might just pic up the $25 one today. :) |
I bought one of those cheap clinometers the other day and am planning on mounting it under my ash tray--like Corey did with his original cliometer. Not as elegant as a factory one, but it works!

People have been buying them directly from Australia. Snowsurfer on here just got one I know.

Another one on ebay, looks perfect...

That is another bogus one.
It will work in a 4Runner, but it's the Tercel model. Note the guage on the far left. That shows when it's in 4WD. The 4Runner clinometer has an altimeter there instead. This guy is trying to trick people into thinking it's the 4Runner one. There was another guy doing this too, but he got busted, and now he words it that it came out of a Tercel. Also see this post. |
I bought mine from HERE
http://www.angelfire.com/ks3/kerrs/y...clinometer.jpg I think he still has one left. He also shipped it to me in England, came in 10 days all for £56.00 (About $90 US) Kerr |
I, too, was thinking of buying a small generic one to put under the ashtray. Like so:
http://www.performanceproducts.com/a...1560_200_1.jpg $21 @ performanceproducts.com. The problem is that the company that produces these, for some reason, has stopped production and this city (Edmonton) has not got any new clinometers in a month, forcing me to look at online purchasing. I think Corey used this one before, any complaints with it? I can't see much going wrong with it though.. :) Al |
Hi Al, my old one worked fine.
It was just real hard to read it down where it was. Having the Aussie one on the dash makes a big difference now, easy to see. I only wish it fit as good as Kerrs. |
It does look like it was supposed to be there.
I did have to take out the whole dash etc. etc. and drill three holes in it so It'll have to stay in there. All in it took 5 hours to fit, outside in the rain!! :bang: Kerr |

I have the Lev-O-Gage Inclinometers purchased from http://www.4x4connection.com/

Right hand drive gauges...
Did they ever make the Toy 4R one for a left hand drive? Is that the fit issue you are talking about, Corey?
|
No, they never made a 2nd gen for US spec rigs.
The only 2nd gen one they made like the one I have was made for right hand drive rigs, and it would fit on the left side. |
What about...
...the one in the Mitsu Montero? Those are pretty plentiful. My buddy has one, so I'll have to check it out the next time I see him.

You guys need to look in some aircraft junk-yards! (yes they do exist) Im shure that one could find an attitude indicator thats not air worthy for the price of a nice automotive indicaotr! Just plug it into your intake for vacuum and your more accurate then any of those crappy plactic things! You'd have gyros!!!
cheers:drink: |
