can you cram 33x12.50 16 under a 3rd gen?
I was wondering if I could cram thoes tires under my wheel wells. I curently have a 3 inch revtek up front and 3.5 downey HD in the rear. With a 2 inch body lift on the way from RB. The only problome/ question I got is I'm running a tottaly different rim size than everyone else's 16x7 . Its a :alert: 16x10 weld :alert: . Not to sure of the offset though. Right now without the body lift, Im fitting 265/70/16 :shocked: on them untill the lift is done. All I really want to do is fill in the wheel well best I can without the risk of rubbing. I'd think you'd have to deflate them a bit...
I can barely fit my 265/70/16 spare with the Hidden Hitch I have. When I put the 32" spare under there I'm going to deflate it a bit and make sure I have reliable on-board air. |

the width on those rims are gonna kill ya. it could be hard to fit that wide of a wheel/tire combo. however, since you have that 2" BL, they should fit. ive got 33x12.50 R15s w/ 2.5" of lift, and lotsa pounding/ trimming on the firewall and fenders

I could be wrong but I think Steve Schaefer tried 35's on his 3rd gen. I would say if he fit 35's then 33x12.5's would fit with the same mods he made.

I should ask him, but Im not worthy to lick any dirt off of his 35s. he is all knowing. But a little side note, I saw a 3rd gen runner at my friends shop on 16.5x14 welds wearing 35s and it looked awsome. I am jealous

Im still lost on this debate though. I was reading on another thread that they dont recomened running a 12.50 on a 10 inch rim. So would't it be better to run the 285/75/16 on my current 16x10s. One day I hope to achive the level of Schafer, but in the scheme of things your doing better than me Keisur, your already locked and loaded

16x10's are fine for 305's. I know I can put them on my 16x8's which is why I went with that width for my 285's, thinking ahead. According to BFG, 16x10's will work for what your looking to do. http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/asset...rain_ta_km.pdf
as for the scheme of things, aw, I have a family to support so I'd rather not starve them to be the coolest. just enough to get me through the terrain I run is what I say. I'm done with the offroad performance mods for a while now unless I get an unpassable deal on a winch. |
So you think that the 33x12.50 16s will clear the lift with no problomes. Or is it better to go with the 282/75/16? I just want to make sure the tires dont rub at anytime. But sad to say, I only have a 2wd, but when I get some money Im gonna lock it pre-runner style.

I rubbed with a 3" susp lift and no body lift. I installed a 2" body lift about a month ago and I haven't rubbed since. So I can only speak for my setup. with the stock front bumper the valence will need to be trimmed a little on the bottom edge closest to the tire with the 285's. I would also say that whether or not the 33x12.'s rub will depend on the backspacing of the rim. you want to get as small of a backspace as you can. I think I'm running 4.25" backspacing and they have about an inch or 2 clearance from the a-arm.

I dont mind the trimming, of the bumper. But did you have to grind down the pinch weld in the front rear fender. I read that some people had to do that.

yea, i just took a 2lb sledge and beat it flat then sprayed some paint on it. no sense in trying to make that kind of stuff look pretty.

Was there any seperation in the pinch weld? No comming apart, leaking, or rusting in that area?

No it won't leak. basically you just beat it (bend it over) to the inside of the wheelwell.

Sorry I couldn't resist it. With pounding of the pinch weld, which way did you pound it flat. I figured that I would pound the weld twords the engine, to prevent it from cutting my tire if anything happend over time. Thanks for you help |
You will be able to fit 305/70 not problem. I am not sure if a 315/75 will fit beings your truck is 2wd and 10 inche wide wheels. I would not put any thing but a 12.50 inche wide wheel on a 10 wide wheel. I bet 265/75 look crazy on 16x10.
