4 cyl vs v6 trans output shaft?

I am thinking of getting just the output shaft and transfer case adapter for my transmission. One thing that I am running into is finding a 4 cyl t-case, but a good bit of v6 t-cases. I have been searching to find out if the output shaft is a different size between one another. I know that the spline count is different, but different only on the transfer case end? I have read that the internals of the A340F were the same. If I were to swap in the V6 output shaft and the v6 t-case adapter will they fit my 4cyl transmission?

Don't think so, Marlin Crawler sales an input for the 23 spline to a 4cyl tcafe. Know it works with the R150/151 don't know about the A340F Tranny.

But why wouldn't it work? Is it because of the spline difference? I just contacted Marlin about this.
