They're here:
good thing, new page, needs new pic. :great: Shackles I think are gonna be too big. 6" center to center. :eeek: But these things are beef that's for sure. The one shackle bolt I guess is stuck and they hacked the old mount off the truck to get the leaf off. No bushings on the other side of the shackle. Just on the leafs. Now just to get the time to do em. http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/PICT0057.jpg |
where did you go for these?
and my driveway is about 4'' thick ice right now.....so spring thaw and those are going on your truck. |
Met the guy up in Cortland, NY.
40 degrees this weekend, girlfriend get out there and start chippin. haha. |
if i could transfer the road salt from the body of my truck to the driveway it would melt in minutes.

I am debating if I want to spend the time rebuilding and freshening up these springs.
The overload leaf (well bottom thick leaf) is cocked a little and not lined up with the rest of the springs in one of the packs. I don't have a press, but I have several c-clamps, and no real heat except for the propane torch that I had gotten from Jerry. The ends of each spring are not drilled for sliders/spacers and not sure what to use between each spring, or just use graphite paint. They are however seem to be drilled on the ends for the retainer clamps. Researching this a little, I've seen some people using UHMW-PE strips between the packs, or drilling out the the tips to use sliders and then some just using graphite paint. So at a quandary as what to do with them while they are sitting on my basement floor waiting to get installed. Looking at these shackles a little more, when I measured them it was center hole to center hole, but beginning to think I should have measured them from the inside edges of the holes. Which puts them at 5.5". 2" over what I understand to be 3.5" factory length shackles. That's another 1" of lift from them, and not sure how much and if I will need to reset the pinion angle of the diff. NWOR mentions to use 4° Alignment Shims when a 3-4" lift is involved. This puts me at 3.5" over all assuming the springs are in fact 2.5" and not 2" or 3" springs. Googled my butt off and cannot find one spring manufacture that sells 2.5" lift springs. All are either 2" or 3" springs. |

Short update, managed to get one of the two spring hanger bolts out of those "new" leaf springs. Needless to say, looks like I am gonna need new bushings for these. Hopefully they are the 30 and 40mm ones that a stock spring would take.
P.S. I have no clue what IO am doing with these really. I know there is the insert for the bolt in the middle of the bushing, pretty sure you can run without that insert if you upgrade the bolt to an 18mm(3/4") bolt vice a 14mm (9/16") bolt. But not 100% sure. Also not sure if I need to get new inserts for the eye of the spring or new bushings would replace those???? Anyway, you can see in the photos, the bolt is siezed to the insert and tore off some rubber bushing material towards the center of the bushing. Sad too, because the bushings themselves don't look too bad as far as dry rot cracking etc etc. Oh BTW: New camera too. :banger: Much better close up photos. :great: http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/629c1cdf.jpg http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/4fcb554d.jpg |

Nice, just added EC4J to facebook to find this years date and if they were gonna have it at RC again. Looks like that's gonna be the Date for the YT meet too then, I'll get it posted up here in a bit.
Just to show ya what the bushing looks like after taking that bolt out and to show how massive these shackles are. http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/b47158d4.jpg http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/6f86e18c.jpg http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/0114b2e1.jpg |
that bushing doesn't look all that good with the flash.
I will add them to my FB as well. |
This one got me into a little trouble. 33X12.50R15 Mastercraft M/T x4 and a Futura A/T 33x12.50R15 Spare. $400 for the x4 and $25 for the spare. More photos tomorrow when it's light outside. Yes that is a total of 5 33's and 1 31 in the bed of that truck, plus my tool box (100+ lb) and 50lb worth of homemade 1/4 steel bumper.
Tires have never hit the pavement. Only 2 years worth of wheeling. Some rock rash and chunking but nothing really to worry about on the street. Plenty of tread left on these things as well as the spare. http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/6d12a538.jpg http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/3bd635b8.jpg http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/d7188952.jpg http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/d89eef19.jpg |
and you were worried about the weight of the snow.
look good. |
A little bit of trouble is the ultimate understatement of the year!!! Everyone it in for a world shock. Hell hath no fury...

The fronts I am not too too worried about clearing as I don't mind hammering a little. But the bed is gonna take some work to clear the 33's and I don't want to cut the bed too high now for it to look odd later when the springs go in. I might be over thinking it, but tying to think ahead about fitment issues. Another issue I see with these is the fact the 10.5's stick out about an inch or a little more now in the rear, so the 12.5's I am gonna have to figure out some sort of "fender" for them. Not sure of fenderwell clearance up front, but I know it's gonna be close and I don't know off hand what the backspacing is on these wheels, but I am pretty sure they are factory wagon wheels and not AR wagon wheels. |
ya know what, I just noticed these tires I got are the same ones swimmerboy2112 scored.

Awwwe c'mon man you can't just ignore the last few posts! Not stirring the pot or trying to get you into more trouble but dude, you can't just not respond! Or is that your plan???????
Well regardless nice tires bet they'll look good when on the rig. |
Looks pretty extreme

:lof:
its ok... he prolly got :chair: at home already... :nana: :stir: |
2 years on this site and not 1 point against me, not gonna start now. Nuff said.
|
touche', can't blame ya there.

I might not be able to use those wagon wheels. At least not in the front. :bang:
Backspacing on the wagons is 4.75 15 X 8 Backspacing on the 6 spoke OEM??? is 3.25. 15 X 7 I think the backspacing on the wagons is gonna put these 12.50's onto the control arm. Got to research more though. And maybe measure to see what my 10.5's really look like as far as clearance on the front.

33x12.50 on 15x8/4.75" backspace wheels needs 1" body lift, and front torsion bar lift (1"-2") or 1.5" ball joint spacer and some sort of rear suspension lift (such as longer spring shackles or a coil spring spacer) to level the truck, plus some fender trimming. Here is a picture of this combination showing the minor front fender trimming needed to fit the tires. Conventional wisdom suggests a full 4" IFS lift for this wheel/tire combination, but using a combination of milder lift components will produce the same end result that will function as well if not better than the taller all-in-one lift kit and at less cost. And in case you think this won't work, take a look at this very combination in action in 4x4Wire's Hot Toys write-up on Don West's '94 pickup. |
i thought OEM was 4.75?
|
these wagons might be OEM as well. but so are my other ones. Rough guestimate of wheel width as I have old tires on them. But pretty sure they are 7's and not 6's. I have an empty wagon here I measured and that's definately 15 x 8 4.75. I don't think OEM wagons were 8" wide though.
TIme for me to go troll through the IFS tire faq thread haha. |
ok that thread didn't help me much. Noone running 33 x 12.50 on an 86-88 ifs. Every reference is to an 89-95 or better. Not sure if I wanna try to run these 12.5's on a 7" rim either. Or they say they fit but no mention of backspacing. 4crawlers is referencing a 89-95 as well I believe. I know the wheel wells are different and only a few mentions of control arm issues.

PS> NICE MEAT on those, buddy! Great buy! Sorry yer in the Bad-Dog House! hahaha. That's at least half of what they cost, new, no? |
yup about half the cost of new.
Just looked, I might have less than an inch clearance between the wagons and the upper control arm. At least according to a 1.1" block of wood I tested with. And it's gonna be close with the swaybar as well. This is at full rest and full lock as well as straight. Did not test full stuff but that shouldn't matter with the UCA and SB. |
funny thing is I was told earlier that a 13.5 tire would work on an 8" wheel. Thats a 5.5" difference same as a 12.5 tire on a 7" wheel. Only thing is I got to figure out exactly where the tire will sit with the 7's as the offset changes with wheel width. For example a 3.75 backspacing on an 7" wheel is actually further outside the wheel well then an 8" wheel with the same backspacing by (if my math correct) a 1/2 inch.
WHat throws me off is that 4crawler doesn't mention issues with the UCA or swaybar. with an 8" 4.75 wheel. |
Have you messaged him, B? He usually answers me back pretty quick when I've hit him up.
