Cragar Soft 8 15x8 Wheels on Pick-Up???

I was looking at getting the crager soft 8's in the link below, but when I call discount tire they said they would hit the caliper without spacers. Is this ture? Is anyone running these exact wheels? Im wanting to put them on a 92 4x4 pick-up.

never head of them hitting the caliper's

iamsuperbleeder 11-18-2009 03:03 PM

lol, that's just stupid. I see tons of people here on the forums running those; maybe one will chime in

in fact, those are what I was going to get, had I not found these ProComp Xtreme Alloys on Craigslist :D

all though I'll admit, I have no idea what back-spacing you'll need, lol

93yotaSR5 11-18-2009 03:09 PM

I'm ordering mine next week with 4"bs.

abecedarian 11-18-2009 03:16 PM

Hmm... aren't stock steelies 15x7 w/4.25" backspacing? If so, a 15x8 with 4.00" backspacing should clear fine. Even though the rim is wider, the backspacing is less. The hub flange / center of the rim is closer to the inside edge of the rim with 4.0" vs. 4.25" backspacing and this pushes the wheel outwards.
Now, if you have a suspension lift or BJ spacers, 4.00" might not clear the upper control arm, but 3.75" will clear with room to spare.

The people at your discount tire are complete idiots. I run these exact wheels. ( 15x8 3.75 back spacing ) and they're perfect. I also have a 92 4runner

Hmm... apparently Cragar stopped making Cragar soft 8s with 3.75 back spacing? they only go to 4" now. I checked their website... and you cant get this rim as 3.75 anymore. nor can you get it from summit, or any other store with 3.75. anybody wanna confirm that?

Same wheels here. We should change the thread into post up a pic if your running soft 8's. These sure are a popular wheel but they definitely look good on any toyota.

kawasakimoto_7 11-18-2009 07:08 PM

yeah who ever told you that they wont fit are retarded.. i work for americas tire.. same thing as discount just different states and i have unique 15x8's which are literally the same exact thing as cragars just different name.. just buy them and show them that they are wrong. id go with 15x10's though if you want your tires to stick out a little bit further..

93yotaSR5 11-18-2009 07:10 PM

that would make a good thread /\

93yotaSR5 11-18-2009 07:11 PM

a soft 8 pic thread would be sick

kawasakimoto_7 11-18-2009 07:16 PM

yeah lemme pull mine up hold on..

MaK92-4RnR 11-18-2009 07:24 PM

I'm pro soft 8 thread :) haha

I dont think i'd run 15x10s. I heard its just easier to air down with 15x8s. a 12.50 is gonna stick out pretty far with or with out 15x10s or not.

I have tons of pictures of your truck, brandon. If you want me to post some pictures of your rims?

back when it looked all perfect..

kawasakimoto_7 11-18-2009 07:28 PM

i just need pics of what mine looks like now.. which have never been taken.. and if you want tires to last longer if you air down a lot then 15x10's are better.. they keep the side wall in more firm shape when you go super low.. (i disagree on going any lower than 20 with 31's and up)

I heard 15x8s are better for airing down... but thats just what i've heard.

Attachment 197620

theres another shot of your truck

kawasakimoto_7 11-18-2009 07:43 PM

yeah i have that
and they are better performance wise for airing down "not" good for the life of the tires

MaK92-4RnR 11-18-2009 07:48 PM

Yeah I think i passed all the pictures I have to you. We need some more updates pictures of our trucks heh.

kawasakimoto_7 11-18-2009 07:51 PM

yeah.. mine is so much different..
maybe eric can get in some group ones haha

MaK92-4RnR 11-18-2009 08:02 PM

lol yeah. if kyburz wasn't so damn far away, i'd say lets take some pics up there... its really scenic up there. but anyway. back on subject! haha anybody else got pictures of the cragar 8s? can anyone confirm that 3.75 BS is still made?

it appears the silver powder coat only comes in 5 lug.

93yotaSR5 11-19-2009 07:23 AM

black looks better anways. tjh884rdlx do you have any problems with clearance on the upper control arm with the bj spacers?

tj884Rdlx 11-19-2009 07:28 AM

cragar soft 8 = procomp series 98 at 4wheelparts

check 4wheelparts.com

they're not "cragar" and they're a little more money, but i think i remember seeing 3.75.
ah heck, i'll go look to kill my curiosity.

ah, here they are in chrome:
http://www.4wheelparts.com/Wheels/Ro..._pn=PCW99-5883
https://www.4wheelparts.com/aux_incl...CW&w=200&h=200
and in black with about 5 different backspace options from 2.5 to 4.5. wow.
http://www.4wheelparts.com/Wheels/Ro..._pn=PCW98-5883
https://www.4wheelparts.com/aux_incl...CW&w=200&h=200

i see a part number difference of a suffix letter "M". i do not know what the difference is. this may be worth asking about

HAHAHA! I forgot that was there. The jeep I was out with bet me that I couldnt get up as far as he did on that rock, as you can see, I surpassed his mark (the armrest).

MaK92-4RnR 11-19-2009 08:30 AM

lol I would never buy these rims chrome or polished... I wanna get rid of all of it as it is... black > chrome :)
