I actually am using two pushing electric fans that were pulled from a geo metro or suzuki swift got them at the local wrecking yard They fit pefect right between the grille and core support so grille is still stock

How did you wire the motor. I have just about everything done except the wiring and i have no idea what I am doing when it comes to wiring.

So are you carb or injected? If carb it is very simple. Also are you using an HEI dizzy?

:alert:

Dras16 11-29-2010 08:11 PM

Carb. and yes HEI. I just dont know if i can run everything through the computer or if i have to bypass that. and if i can use the existing harness for the alternator and the distributor.

Okay so I left stock harness in place but I also used stock toy alt and toy powersteering pump just modded the brackets a little bit. As far as the HEI goes I think I ran a new wire to the hot via ignition switch I will look and verify that for you. Simply because its been 2 years and I dont remember lol. I did remove all the fuel injection mumbo jumbo because its not need. but leave the wiper connections etc.

Dras16 11-30-2010 02:42 PM

ok Thanks, I am using the gm alternator and power steering. i just dont know about the alternator because on the stock harness it has 3 wires going into the plug and then another wire that bolts to the alternator... right? what about your starter relay? i read that it wont pull enough current to start a gm starter

If your set on using the gm alt. get a 1 wire hook up. as far as the starter goes I bolted main hot from battery to starter then ran a new wire from the ignition switch to the start switch terminal on the starter bypassing toyota harness all together. The 3 wires in the toyota alt harness is the reason I used the toy alt. Plus I have power everything in the runner and wanted the amps.

Dras16 12-03-2010 06:56 PM

doesn't the gm alternator put out more amps? i already got rid of my toy alternator and can't afford a new one. thats why im using the gm. which wire did you connect to off the ignition switch?

Just depends on which GM alt you go with there is a wide range of amperage. As far as what wire to use from ignition switch you will need to use a volt meter to determin that...

Dras16 12-26-2010 02:03 PM

Thanks for all the help. I was able to wire the starter, distributor, and oil pressure sending unit. Now all I need to do wire the alternator. Hopefully it will be running in a couple weeks! Also are you running a different brake booster and master cylinder? Oh and I used the original toyota starter wire from the ignition and it works just fine.

ok update im building a new 350 its .030 over running edelbrock performer intake holley truck avenger vortec heads from a 98 burban now just trying to figure out the cam because the vortecs are somewhat limited on lift I want to get about 330 horse or more would be bonus I will have some new pics soon hopefully

Dras16 05-07-2011 02:07 PM

Are you rebuilding your old motor or did you get a whole new motor? Sounds like its gonna have some good power. I dont know a whole lot about motors or what type of cam to use but someday would like to add more power to mine.

I used a summit aluminum 22x19 radiator P/N sum-380324 I cut a little sheet metal and added a lower crossmember to hold it. http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/...6/100_0003.jpg

thanks for the help did you run a electric cooling fan

Dras16 05-12-2011 03:04 PM

Yes I used the stock fan for the A/C condenser and its stock location and bought a second one just like it at a junkyard and mounted it next to it. But I have a 91 runner. I dont know how different it is from yours.

let me know what you guys think.

Im going to add an airtank and a lock box maybe some other stuff

Dras16 06-07-2011 04:35 PM

Looks good! Maybe a little top heavy once its loaded up but it shouldnt be too bad. That bumper sticks out a lot farther than I thought it would looking at the pic from the front. But still looks good.

Thanks im actually gonna pull roof rack back off and shorten it so its not so tall. I like the bumper like that so I can sit or stand in it lol when im messing around under the hood. I also came up with another roof rack use:drink: park in the back of the drive in and throw a chair up there call it box seats lol

Dras16 06-13-2011 05:20 PM

Ha ha nice! And that bumper would make a good seat for working on the motor!

Nice set up. Just finished the same set up on my 94 Runner. 350, t400.
Did you use the stock radiator? What kind of shifter did you use?

Thanks! Got a question about the fuel system.
Did you do anything with the fuel system?
Did you go with fuel cell? Did you install a aftermarket fuel pump or went with a GM fuel pump?

9four4runner 01-26-2012 07:28 PM

wat about using the OE dash or would it be easier to make a custom gauge pod with alt oil psi, speedo rev and gas water temp?

well in my case the only guages that still work are the gas gauge (i think) and the speedo. To use the stock tach you need to calibrate it with a potentiometer (not sure about that spelling) but I have a separate temp and oil guage and am planning on putting in an aftermarked tach.
