Chevota cam install!!!!
so i have been having issues on my 1990 chevota backfiring up through the carb. i checked for vacum leaks, vacum lines,
checked carb, fuel pressure(fuel pressure regulator), spark, installed new hei distributor from points dist. i finally pulled my valve covers and found cam lob on #1 cylinder exhaust side not moving, explains backfiring up through the carb witch is exhaust coming up trough the carb, i got a new cam and lifters and already have my radiator, fans and water pump removed, i am gonna attempt to install cam through front of engine with out removing engine from 4runner, by the way my engine is a small block 350, i will post pictures soon...... |
Should be easy if your remove the radiator:)
What kind of milage are you getting out of the 350 with carb and 700r4, I'm considering doing this and then adding TBI at a later date, I seriously could switch the carbed 350 in on a Saturday and some of Sunday with the lift and tools I have, whereas the FI would take alot longer, I really want a Vortech 350 or a 5.3 out of a newer truck. let me know, I get about 13-15 out of my current 3vz on 33's and 4.56's. |
i get round the same 12-15, really haven't paid much attention to gas mileage, i chucked my 3vze when i blew head gasket, here are some pictures of my current cam install
