without using the toyota 5 speed with the AA bellhousing you are talking custom transmission mounts, drive shafts, linkage, speedo cable length and other little issues.

If this is your first swap and you are set on the buick, i would get a w series tranny and t case and the advanced adapters bell housing. converting to 5 speed from auto is not that hard and i feel alot less custom fab work than a chevy auto. just my 2 cents though

no worries i thought this thread had all but died until you posted. if you look in my build thread you will see what i did then tore it out for a 4.3 tbi due to some one paying me $$$ for the buick.

What did you change the gear box to in your spring over?

I have thought about putting in my extra set of 76 Bronco Power steering box and the 1974 tie rod and drag links.

sping over? you mean cross over steering? i used a IFS toyota steering box for my steering, and a custom reinforced mount for it on the frame.

on another note how is the weather in walnut creek? my wife's family is from there (the kilcourses) we went down for Christmas and it was nice, well compared to here...lol

which one did you like more the buick or the chevy? b/c ive got a chevy 4.3 and tranny out of a 80's model monte carlos just layin around the shop

depends what you want, the buick was a hotrodded carbed v-6 with alot of HP up top and alot of tourquemid to top

where as the 4.3 i have is a stock TBI that is really mellow but wont flood out on hills like the buick did and i feel pulls lower on the torque band and does not perform at the higher rpm like the buick did because it was not designed for that.

It is not really a fair comparison in my opinion but the reliability and cost effectiveness of the 4.3 TBI swayed me over the higher performance less reliable buick with carb setup.

I own a toyota hilux LN106 2.8-liter diesel for 1997 double deck. I have a buick 231 v6 engine that I would install it. I have all the parts ordered in advance adaptaion adapter that I start up my own. The problem is that I can not find an internet shema or guide it manually there is one for the engine mounting system including electricity, gas connections happen, and others. well fred besides what comes with the advanced adapters kit i did not really find much of a manual either and had to pretty much figure it all out for myself.

electrically, i found a HEI distributor for a buick oddfire on craigs list that came factory in some of the newer buick cars that used the same engine so it was a one wire hookup there.

as for fuel, mine was a gas motor it replaced, and a carbed one at that so i used the same tank and lines and just hooked the suction line to the mechanical fuel pump on the buick motor.

I used custom motor mounts and a custom radiator and other custom fabricated parts. if you have any further questions feel free to post them here and i will do my best to help you out.

unfortinately the buick motor is no longer in my truck, i actually had a buddy woth a jeep that came stock with the buick motor and he blew his motor and could not find another so i sold him mine and went to a chevy 4.3 v-6.

motor mount wise all i did was use the stock frame side mount to the stock rubber mount and custom fabricated a plate to go between the stock holes on the block and the toyota motor mounts.
