1UZ-FE into a Toyota T100 Auto 3.4

Hi I have a toyota T100 with a great healthy 3.4 in it with recent timing belt chain. I was wondering how much work a Non VVTi 4.0 V8 would take to be swapped into my truck. I was wondering what would be needed for the swap (engine mounts, ECM Ect.) and what parts would be changed and would we need any new exhaust work or anything like that. I have no problems getting a parts car to complete this swap. Thanks I would like any and al info regarding this swap ad also an estimated cost . Thx

I want to see this. Would love a v8

I'm planning out my swap into my 94 right now. I've been lurking on these forums for a while and also on the Lextreme forums for information. Lextreme has a lot of write ups on swaps into 4Runners and Hiluxes, but the process should be pretty similar. We'll actually have more room in the T100 engine bay. Of course, I'm not finished, so all of this is speculation based on what I've found.

As far as parts, you'll want to get the engine, trans, ecu and wiring harness. According to the Lextreme boards, a 1uz is pretty easy to wire up if you keep the matching transmission. I've heard a lot of guys having big problems with getting other transmissions to work with the 1uz ecu.

I didn't find anyone that made a mount kit, so you'll have to make some up yourself. You'll also have to make up an exhaust.

As far as the radiator, I'm going to try to stick with a factory 1uz unit, so that I can use standard hoses. It looks like an LS400 should fit based on dimensions alone, but it has a remote coolant reservoir, and I don't want to mess with that. The GS400 has a normal radiator cap, but it is a little wider, so I'm not sure how much "massaging" it will take to make it fit. You could always go with a custom unit.

As far as the transfer case, the A340/341e should bolt up the T100 chain drive if you swap the tailhousing. You'll need to either cut down the tail shaft splines or swap in the whole thing from the A340f. You'll also need to change out the speed sensor and machine a mounting hole. If you go this route, since you're using the factory t-case, if you line it up right you should be able to use your factory driveshafts without modification.
This guy details the process:
http://www.4wdaction.com.au/forum/vi...p?f=22&t=51485

I'm not sure if the column shifter from the T100 will work with the A341 or not. My plan is to grab a floor shifter from an LS400 and drop that in.

Hope this helps. Like I said earlier, check out the Lextreme boards - they have A LOT of info on 1uz swaps in general.

Chris

Slap in the face truth....t100 is an albatros. (bird that cant fly well) I wouldnt waste a good motor like that on a t100.
Low production..etc...etc..

Be like putting a new Victoria Secret outfit on a pig.

Now in a pickup or 4runner....now your cooking.

Ouch, that's funny I passed up a good 6 or 7 pickups in similar condition as mine. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I know what I bought I did the homework.

I didnt mean it to be rough...more like funny.

I was basically saying a t100 is a short production run truck. For all the trouble of popping a v8 into a t100...you may as well get a tundra.

I actually like the look of the trucks...but knowing Toyota only made them a few years make ya realize parts are gonna be harder to get and probably cost a little more.

I know your a young guy and want to fix your truck all up. Its male instinct.
My advice would be get/keep it in top notch shape...maybe put ya a stereo on it...and keep an eye out for a little 4runner or pickup you can fix up on the side. Its what you will eventually do anyways I bet...might save ya some headaches and time listening to us old folks.

Ok I see where your coming from with this now. Why not just get a tundra if I'm planning a v8 swap that makes sense. I considered a tundra but styling, weight, fuel economy and price were factored in.

T100 +
Light (4400)
3.4 one of toyotas best v6s
Wider track than a pickup or runner
Better styling IMO than a first gen tundra
Better mileage than a tundra being lighter with a smaller engine.
We are big dune runners which is why the t100 screamed to me being light and wide. V8 swap is wayyyyy down the road if I ever blow the V6 (doubt it) as being not much more expensive than getting a replacement 3.4 We might even be getting another t100 or tundra for my dad who just fell in love with mine. I do agree not much aftermarket support for them but hey there's always trade offs.

Least she not rusty and she was cheap

Just out of curiosity, why a 4.0 L 1 uz over a 4.7 L 2 uz??

The 4.0l is muc lighter than the 4.7 and returns much better mileage. And is similar hp just slightly less torque

sounds good. I was just curious. good information

I make bolt on engine mount adapters for the 4.0 and 4.7 into 3VZE, and 22R/22RE.

Got a website?

I wish mine was a t100 only for the fact that you have more room under the hood for a turbo with the 1uz. but on that note why not just save yourself a bunch of headache and turbo that 3.4

swapping in the uz requires changes to everything:

transmission, major rewiring/soldering/heat shrinking/hair pulling out, ecu location, exhaust manifold to tailpipe('s),radiator, radiator hoses, heater hoses, electric cooling fan, trans cooler, intake filter/piping (my major problem right now), motor mounts, transmission mount relocation, drive shaft(s) shortening and lengthening (yep both), shifter mounting with custom boots so exhaust gas dont come up with the windows open, gearing and last but not least PREMIUM FUEL ONLY..

when your done with all that you have a really sweat sounding ride with a bit more power.
im pretty fond of the 4wd snow donuts too but all in all if i could do it again i think i would have just stuck with the 22r and built a street car with the 1uz... good thing i bought 2 of them

as far as mileage goes, mine may be a fluke but with good compression, full tune up, good a/f ratio, running the lexus auto/4wd tcase 4.11 gears im seeing 10 city 15 highway not beating on it. its a shame watching a quarter tank go down after only 35-45 miles

Do you live in Toledo JM? I'm from the Sandusky area about 40mins away. And honestly I started this thread before even driving this thing. Truth is this is light and the 3.4 is Plentyyyy powerful

yes, the salt is so bad here right now I can watch my bumpers rusting from one day to the next..

Don't get me wrong the 1uz is pretty sweet but it is a lot of work for little pay off. You may as well go GM ls swap or some thing more modern. I went Toyota because I thought it was going to be the most efficient.. so far I was wrong

mightymudskipper 11-01-2019 06:14 AM

Killer B,

I have a 94 t100 and I need motor mounts for my 1uz are you still busting these out?

if so I’m interested in a pair

regards
