1jz swap

I am thinking of doing a 1jz swap into my pickup. It is an 87 toyota pickup with the 22r motor and either the G52 or the G54 trans, it has a sas pushing 35" tires. I would like to put in a 1jz naturally aspirated motor with the stock trans if this is possible, if not what would be the best trans to go with? I have read some of the other threads where people say to swap in the V6 but i would really like to go with the inline 6 cyl. to be unique. Any comment and information would be greatly appricitated. Thank You

http://www.supracharged.com/ and www.supratrucks.com should have all the info covered

Your stock trans will gernade quickly

Yes, i understand that. They are not built to handle that much hp and torque, but will it bolt up is my question?

My vote, 2JZ swap with nas...http://astrx.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/2jz.jpg...:dj:

That's still one of the funniest things I've seen on here...

There is no such thing as a NA 1jz they are all twin turbo or the newer vvti cars had a single turbo. As for using a G trans with a 1jz that is not going to work. im pretty sure the only option you have there is the R series transmissions.

Now the 2jz can come in either the NA or twin turbo models. 2jzge = NA 2jzgte = twin turbo.

na 1j was an option in japan. so was a direct injection 1j and 2j. both were n/a but direct injection would be a great fuel setup if you added a turbo to it.

this is my same question.

I have the opportunity to buy a beautiful 1JZ for cheap money so far I've only seen info on swapping into a 2WD vehicle

blake.nemitz 03-08-2011 04:52 AM

btw english is not my 1st lang. so if u may explain it to me !

blake.nemitz 03-10-2011 08:59 AM

i mean the gear ratio is 4 to 1. four turns of the input shaft for one turn of the drive shaft.

Incorrect.

R151 First gear: 4.313:1
R150 Firs gear: 3.830:1

4:1 is close, but its not accurate

Also, the only thing the R151 and R150 share is the forward section of the main housing. Input ratios, 2nd, 3rd and other ratios, output shaft, rear case section, etc are all different. The R151 is a forward shifting gear driven case setup, where the r150 is a chain driven top shift

ADIGA 03-11-2011 10:56 AM

so DeathCougar i will use the r151 !!
and thanx blake.nemitz for the info i really appreciate it :)

R151F Turbo trans is the way to go. Just be warned, they are VERY expensive and difficult to find. If you find one, snatch it up!

ADIGA 03-11-2011 11:02 AM

DeathCougar 03-11-2011 11:04 AM

i hope you replay me fast ! :alert:

i made a search about the this specific tranny and i found these info -->
what do u think of these statistics
*
Code:

1979-1980 Carb L43 4sp 21 spline 3.67 4cyl 20R Gear driven Top Shift
1981-1983 Carb L45 4sp 21 spline 3.93 4cyl 22R Gear driven Top Shift
1981-1983 Carb L50 & L52 5sp 21 spline 3.93 4cyl 22R Gear driven Top Shift
1984-1986 Carb G52 5sp 21 spline 3.93 4cyl 22R Gear driven Forward Shift
1986-1988 Carb G54 5sp 21 spline 3.93 4cyl 22R Gear driven Forward Shift
*1986-1987 EFITurbo R151F 5sp 23 spline 4.31 4cyl 22RTE Gear driven Forward Shift
1985-1988 EFI W56 5sp 21 spline 3.95 4cyl 22R Gear driven Top Shift
1988-1991 EFI R150F 5sp 23 spline 3.83 V6 3.0L Chain driven Forward Shift
1989-1995 EFI W56 5sp 21 spline 3.95 4cyl 22R Gear driven Forward Shift
1989-1995 EFI/ADD G58 5sp 26 spline 3.93 4cyl 22R Chain driven Forward Shift
1996-2002 EFI W59 5sp 23 spline 3.95 4cyl 2.7L Chain driven Top Shift
1996-2002 EFI R150F 5sp 23 spline 3.83 V6 3.4L Chain driven Forward Shift

the 1jz is six cylinders and r151f is four as u can see ! will this tranny can hold the torque+hp of the 1jz ?!
