3.4 swap runs! but only for 5 seconds then dies :(
Ok, so I got everything done, motor is in, wiring is done, exhaust is on, and the motor starts but only runs for about 5 seconds. I wired in the OBDII diagnostic port, and the CEL is on, but when I hook up my diagnostic tool, it says error1. Can someone tell me what pin on a 98 manual ecu the diagnostic port reads off of? I want to make sure I have it hooked up to the correct port. Once all the kinks are worked out I will be making a nice write up on everything for yet another resource out here for everyone to use.
I have had trouble finding an ecu pinout for my ecu with it being a manual. It seems that everything I find is for an auto with the fatter plugs. I have downloaded all the diagrams from Toyota Tech Info, and have looked at all the NCTTORA diagrams. Any help is greatly appreciated! |
Ok, I am a dumbass, just found what I was looking for stickied above. Thanks!

Runs for 5 seconds and dies? Fuel issue? Pump pressurizes to let it fire but then can't keep up with demand possibly? Just tossing ideas...

Should not be a fuel issue, I didn't do anything to that part of the circuitry. I realized I did not switch my oil pressure sensor and still have the original 3.4 sensor on it. I am wondering if it is because of that... my oil pressure gauge goes all the way up with key on, so I am going to switch that out. I also realized I have my diagnostic wire going to the wrong pin. I am going to fix that and hopefully that will tell me exactly what is not functioning properly.

COR and fuel pump wiring. There about eleventy billion threads on how to fix this and even pictures of where the wires go.
