It's finally sitting on tires instead of jack stands.



Here is the specifics.
GM dana 60 front/ 4:56's, Detroit is awaiting install
GM 14 bolt rear/ 4:56's, no traction aids for this one yet
USA 6x6 bead locks wraped 40" swampers
Front suspension/ Skys manufacturing full width hanger kit
Rear suspension/ Custom 4 link using currie johnny joints and Misc. Balistic Fab mounts.
Power train/ stock 3.0 V6, 5 speed and sitting on my garage floor awaiting install is an OTT ind. yota to dana 300 doubler.

I still have a bit to do but I think im on the down hill side of this project now!

Looks good, but hope you have a tow rig or an underdrive cuz 3.0 + 4.5 + 40's = SUPER DOG.

What did you do with the gas tank?

I have a toyota to dana 300 doubler sitting on the garage floor that still needs to be installed. I went this route cause I found the whole set up allready put together and it was never installed! This aliveaites having to track down the transfer cases after purchasing an adapter. There is also the ability to add low range gears later and I won't need to have drive lines that are half yota half american style U-joints.
The previous owner did a real bang up job on this rig, he had already moved the tank to the rear of the vehicial. I thought this was how yota made them because this is my first yota, I figured that he had just moved it up a bit for clearance. I later discovered that the rear mounted tank in not stock! the guy before me also was kind enought to weld the gas tank it's self right to the frame! I had already filled the tank previously to getting it into the garage and disassembling it so removing it was no longer an option I wanted to take. There where plans to put leaf springs all the way around but the fuel tank was in the way to do so in the rear.

Ill get some more pics of the tank so you can see for your self!

I'd suggest installing one heck of a skid plat under your tank ASAP. That factory model is next to useless and every dent and bang to your tank will reduce the capacity... or worse, put a hole in it.

Unfortunately, I don't think welding a gas tank to your frame was the best mod your previous owner could have done. Good idea with the new position, poor implementation.

As it sits I have 28"s of clearance under the tank. I had much less in the built full size blazer I just sold and I really dident have any problems with it. I will be doing something about beffing it up later.
Here is a few more specs, just for geewizz.

Wheel base/ ended up being pushed out to 108.5", I was shooting for 107 not sure what happend? Front axle I know for sure is sitting 2.5" foward from stock. Im guessing the rear moved back about 2" from stock.

Frame height/ 29"

Axle width/ Full size (68"s) with my USA 6x6 bead locks with 5" back spacing im sitting 80" for a total width with wheel and tires on the axle.

4 link/ I ended up making the links 40"s, with an ajustable johnny joint at 1end for addational ajustment.

Yes I do plan on running it on the street, of course Ill be aquiring some 35" tires before I do so. This is all dependent on how the law feels about it to! Hopefully my doubler will help with some of my gearing issues. I just ordered the rest of my adapters so I should have the doubler in within a week or two. Im not to worried about the gearing because I have a small block chevy engine swap planned for the future. An Ultimate Adventure is the set up im trying to achieve with this rig. Some thing I can drive 1200 miles and still hit some gnarly trails on the way and ride comfortably.
The back spacing on the wheels is 5" and I have no issues with the tires contacting the springs, Lots of room. I used Sky's manufacturing full with SAS kit for the front.

Update! The doubler is now in, just need to find a transfer case mount so I can bolt everything up to the crossmember. Of corse I need to get some shifters in there too. I guess I should have taken some pic's of it in the rig but here are a few of everything being put together, for the last time.

Also Picked up this from Sky's Manufacturing, They don't have it listed on there web site. But if your looking for the adapter to put a GM master cylinder on your yota for some better braking they have a really nice peice!

As far as the cash go's Im into this build about $2000, out of pocket. I have been luck in the since that I have been able to sell all of the crap that I removed. Then I could just turn around and purchase what I needed for the build.

I also added in there the prices for about 98% of all the parts I have purchased, to even include such things as nuts and bolts.

Im still building! only thing left untill it's trail worthy is drive lines, mounting shocks, running brake lines and fluids.

Holy jungle-gym 14 bolt! Hey, seriously, that runner is comming along great. Thanks for the update.

I got a deal on some Trail Gear 12" front shock hoops but they where a little short for my 14" bilstiens. So I had to add a bit of length and spruce things up a bit.
