What was this guy thinking?!! First off why the hell was he wheeling with his 16 month old child in the back seat in the first place? Bouncing around on rough terrain can easily injure a young child. Second, he was wheeling under the influence which needless to say is DANGEROUS!! Third, why would you even chance a water crossing like that with your young child in the back seat? It is just asking for trouble. Finally, why would you weld your doors shut? That is just flat out dumb. It is so sad when stupid and irresponsible people like this end up killing someone else instead of themselves...

A child is never too young to bring along. My buddy Dave and his wife brought their 3 month old to a snow run last year.. He's just not dumb about it.

Bones on a young child are a bit soft still so I would at least ask a doctor before subjecting a small body to being bounced around but if there is no dangers then I'd gladly take my child. I've seen adults get whiplash on a trail from being whipped around which could break an infants neck so it would be a concern.

i go over and wheel at deep creek close to where this happened all the time. There are some deep spots. And most people are wasted out there. wheeling and drinking is irresponsible, but with a baby and around water is just plain stupid.
He is an idiot. Plus most places around Deep creek are illegal to be at. |

Damn shame. I feel bad for him hes going to have to live with that the rest of his life. I would never take my daughter off roading so young its just not worth the risk. my daughters 9 now and she loves it. sometimes on my 4 wheeler she wants me to go faster but I don't cause im always worried about what can go wrong.

never too young to go wheeling but you have to add common sense to the equation; the world is filled with idiots, it never ceases to amaze me.

Im guilty of it myself tho atleast ill admit it.. Very dumb of me and always leads to bad stuff happening to my truck and bad experiences which isnt good. Luckily i havent hurt anyone or myself. Not a good idea. Once a guy with his family (all waisted) and their young daughter followed me after I repeadedly told them not to. the did anyway and got themselves in a real bad spot. I wasnt about to see anyone get hurt nor help them out of the situation (which wasnt realy life threatning) just a dumb spot for his big rig to go so my group got out of there as quick as we could. Drinking and wheeling leads to nothing good and very dumb on my part to have in the past. Hope to make much better desicions in the future.
