Head lights

I was wondering what the brightest replacement headlights you can get for a 1986 toyota pickup and is it possible to put fog lights on the front bumper where the bolts on top are and if so what kind?

Fogs up top would not be the best idea since there beam pattern has a very wide spread. You'd be blinding on coming drivers for sure. Driving lights are a better choice for mounting that high. I had a set mounted up there on my old 87. As for what would work just about anything there is a fair bit of room so your choice is just about limitless. I used a pair of $30 hella clones and they worked great, I even used them as headlights a lot of the time and did not even bother with the regulars.

Higher power headlights are available but if you want to stay stock the strongest I've ever come across are 55/65w. However if you switch to an H4 type light you can go all th way up to 100w+ or even HID. There are several mfgs. to choose from here, I went with a Bosch conversion kit that had two replacement lens/housings and bulbs for $90 cdn. They feature a euro spec light spread pattern that focuses the light forward and slightly up to the right to illuminate the curb and road ahead while reducing glare for oncoming drivers. You can also get a Hella kit that features the same pattern but these are only sold in single units that I've seen.
I've used the bosch kit on both my yotas and have been very pleased with them I ran 80/100s in my 87 and never heard a word from any cops about too bright a light. In my 94 I'm running 55/65s since the dang gov't outlawed the sale of the high power bulbs here I have'nt been able to find the others anymore.
