they are fine, just remember that they will only hold up as long as the welder does a quality job of installing them. They will get dinged up but that is what they are for to protect the rockers. They are made out of HREW steel, some people would say to only use DOM. I have HREW sliders (though not T-G) on both my trucks and they have held up fine.

okay, so how far below my rocker panels should i have them mounted?

toyNG 07-21-2008 04:46 PM

I have had mine on for about a month now, but have yet to come down hard on any rocks, so I can't really attest to their durability. I have, however, used them as jacking point for my hi lift and they hold up just fine.

Regarding placement, you want to put them as high as possible, but still retain about an inch between the slider and the pinch weld. If they are up too high, they may touch your body when under pressure. here are some pics

x2.....if you wheel at all you'll be painting them all the time anyways...

I highly recommend spraying the top with bedliner..it does look pretty clean actually (better than 3m grip tape) It has saved my ass on muddy/wet trails from banged shins and twisted ankles many many times

Djlarroc 07-22-2008 10:05 AM

x3, but if you want them to look pretty at least til you bang them up. Tack 'em, weld 'em, paint 'em, then bolt 'em on!

That's how I did mine. :bigok:

TwoValveKid 07-22-2008 10:12 AM

Are they starting to have the bedliner "paint" now in hardware stores/advance auto type places?

i dont care if the look pretty at all, i intend for them to get all torn up, ill rattle can them sure, but thats it... now the only question is if i should mount them at 15 degrees or 30, im leaning towards 15

very nice, i suppose i will just have to get them adn then decide what will function best while looking somewhat presentable

X-AWDriver 07-22-2008 10:59 AM

I want to do mine like ToyNG has his;perfect angle to the body and don't stick out to far which is perfect for a DD.

thanks man. I angled mine at just a bit less than 25, so maybe like 23.
