Most reliable engine made?
first off this excludes diesels, so don't even try but what i am looking for is everyones opinion on what is or was the most day in day out reliable engine ever made? I would like to start by throwing out two that i can't decide which is more reliable First the 1UZFE-4.0 V8 found in the Lexus LS-400 models, Second would have to be the famous 22re 4cyl. I would tend to lean more towards the 1UZFE just because i have seen these engines personally with upwards of 500,000 miles with no major rebuilds on a consistent basis. Now it's your turn tell me what you think is the most reliable Engine ever made.:)

22r(e) for the win
|
i would say the 22r and 22re too

Air Cooled Vw 4 Cylinder 1300 Cc By Far The Best Most Reliable Engine Ever Built.

I have seen 3.4's go 500k, but the 22re is ultra reliable.
However the single most reliable engine I have ever witnessed was a chevy 350 that was in 1985 4x4 truck. That truck was beat to hell but had regular maintenance and the original engine had a whopping 600k on it.. I dunno if its still being driven since this was a year ago but damn it worked good. |
Na...the b18 in integras...check this out...
http://www.team-integra.net/forum/di...TopicID=230805 ...and there is a ton of them other out there with 350k+...can't find the one with almost a million miles with no rebuild...hold on maybe I can google it or somthin... This is on a Acura dealership's floor...new paint, original motor. |
I'd say 22R, Chevy 350, 4.3 Chevy V6, or 4.9 Ford I6.
I've seen all of those motors go 300k+ |

GM 2.8 and 3.8 V6's ...And hopefully the 3.4 thats in my driveway! :nerd: ***Edit*** I looked through the Integra post again (it had been a while). Don't forget the Honda D16. 939899! 8 timing belts and 3 clutches. Attachment 180942 |
I wonder if that civic has rolled over yet?
|
22R(E) has headgasket problems, I would go 1UZ.
|
how about which is more reliable...
20r, 22r or 22re. |
4.0 Jeep, The VW motor from most of the Bugs(old), the Chevy 350, The Chevy 4.3 v6, the Buick 3.8, the ford 4.9 I6, the 22-R(E) , the 3VZE. There are a few more that I will add later that I can't think of right now.
BTW, those are not in any particular order. |
After alot of searching, I find the 3.4L is expected to make 300K+. I hope that is the case for mine. So I am biased :)
|
The Subaru EJ22 with and without a turbo is just about bullet proof. Otherwise I'd say the 3.4 from what I've read.
|
22re for sure.
|
there has been a few responses out there that i would not have expected, the chevy 350 i can see for sure, my father in law has one with 235k on his, the reason i picked the 1uzfe lexus V8 wass because of two cars in particular when i was working at lexus one had 678k with no rebuilds just routine maitenance and the other had a crazy 735k with no rebuilds just routine maitenance maybe i am biased because i own one. As for the 22re i had a 91 short bed that had 324k when i sold it all i ever did in 200k was timing chain, and valve adjusts.

22re.
