33x10.5 vs. 32x11.5 Opinions?
 

Trying to decide on a tire size, for a 95 4Runner 3.0 15x8 w/ 3.75" BS 'd wheels, OME suspension & ball joint spacers, either 33x10.5 or 32x11.5, any rubbing concerns with the 11.5 on the a-arms? Any power issues running the 33?....any info would help...

I run 33x10.5x15 on my 95 pickup 3.0l V6. I ran them with a 4 inch IFS lift for 2 years and they fit fine. No rubbing. That was on the stock 15x7 rims. I had 4.56's and I thought that the power loss was pretty minimal, that was until I regeared to 4.88's. That made me realize just how much low end torque I had lost.

Personally I WOULD NOT go to a bigger tire size unless you have the money to regear as well. People will tell you it's fine but their standards are just low:laugh: Probably not what you wanted to hear but it's just my opinion anyway.

My 94 x-cab has 32x11.5s on 15x8s with AAL rear/torsion crank front. The only rubbing was on the front mudflaps, which came off in like 5 minutes anyway. I wouldn't mind new gears sometime in the future, but it does fine for now both on and off roads. So far I am happy with my 11.5s and how they fit. But yea, one day the stock gears are going to have to go. Probably after I break them :welder:

IMHO, 32x11.50 makes NO sense. They fit the same (actually, worse) than a 33x10.50, and you don't get the ground clearance advantage. It will be OK with 4.56's, but I agree with the above, going to 4.88's made a HUGE difference. You can wait to regear until you have saved up for lockers... LOL

BC, definetly go with the 33x10.5. Those wider 32s will not be very good in the snow, as they tend to float and skid on top of snow rather than dig into it a bit more like a narrower tire is prone to do. Not to mention the clearance issues you get with a 33. Have 33x10.50-15s on my 95 with 4.88s ..no problem.

i love my 33x10.50 (stock gears suck though) but a lot better than the 32" or the old 31"

Another vote here for 33x10.5's

another vote for 33x10.5's and save up for regear and lockers. both will fit fine with the rims you have, but the 33's will give you the most offroad for your buck.

yea if you have the choice, go with the 10.50. you may feel a little underpower-age, but nothing ECT can't fix, it ain't that big of a deal

In my 4Runner, I haven't noticed really any difference in power. My truck has 4.556's and I have the 33x10.5's

10.5 hands down. id rather have taller than wider...all things being equal. (fitment wise)

edit: also depends on what gears you have..if auto (and oem 31's) then 4.88's. those should be good for 33's.

that said..gears schmears. im on 35's w/ 4.30's and its not that bad. barely noticable than my 33's, which was a big drop from the oem 31's. although i do have the 3.4..but still. 4.10's, 33's and 3.slow+slushbox would be somewhat doggy...

I really like my 33X10.50 BFGs. They are great in mud, dirt, snow, and on some rock. Great traction on and off road and don't suck down the MPG.
