Really nice, Morton! I was contemplating the New "LC" with a mild cam, etc....but had a crisis in the family and I'M SURE GLAD I CAUGHT IT IN TIME and canceled the order! lol.

Just a heads up, not trying to badmouth any company....but Photobucket has caused me 2 Windows Security Virus', in six months! It didn't click at first, where the first had come from, ...but yep, it was there. I am done with that site...Far as I know, flickr is not having that problem, but if you google 'got a Windows Security 2010, 2009 virus on Photobucket", ....well, I think you'd be surprised.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing the thing run...put a video up, k? lol

Nice to meet ya, I went to ASU part of my degree. LOVED Phoenix, but it's not for everyone, eh?

Thanks for the reply! My 4Runner has 172K miles and I was told the engine has already been replaced--that seemed odd to me, but everything was clean enough to justify what I was told.

I downloaded what I think is a FSM from a post I found here--everything says Toyota, no Haynes or Chiltons on sight.

Ah... now that I look closer at it, yup, this is the real deal. The Head stuff starts on page EM-12.

Where's the link to the FSM's?

Dead thread?

I know it's been a long time, but I have been putting all my spare time into this build...

Well, several months later and I am finally driving the 4Runner. It's great, but the thing smokes both black and white. So it's running rich (black smoke) and I am trying to find the problem. Have tested the MAF, 02 and all the wires at the ECU as per the FSM. Replaced the TPS, but need to re-check and adjust it (ECU test came up a few volts under for the TPS).

The smoke issue really bums me out after all the work, money and time I have put into this engine.

Autospec was great, but I am not confident they put metal valve guides in as I requested several times--and I oversaw and even took pics of everything. The head was built when I got there and Phan swore they were metal--I had no way to know. I did get a metal chain guide for sure though.

I went back to Autospec today to show him my smoke issue and he says it is just running too rich. He even claimed the white smoke was also fuel because they put ethinol and methinol in it. I just don't know what to make of that. Fact is I have to fix the rich condition first, and then see if there is still white smoke.

Then when I got home I checked my oil and it was low (a quart maybe?) It was the same way this morning so I topped it off. So it is either low again because the oil is all in the engine, or it is eating oil. I will check it again in the morning. I guess this could be the rings still breaking in--the engine only has like 134 miles on it.

Oh well, wish me luck...
