Body lift steering extension

Could anyone advise me on how the heck to remove this thing? Loosened all the bolts inside the cab on the steering but it won't budge. Do I need to disconnect shaft from the steering box?

Well I got it off. Had to disconnect the steering shaft from the splined end coming from the steering box. When I took the body lift off I probably only have an inch of splined now in the steering box and on the steering column in the cab. Is this how it is on stock trucks?

I have not seen an extention like the one you posted. About an inch will stick into the column and into the rag joint connector, it will bottom out.

In the center of the shaft, it should expand and contract. Most are rusted and wont budge. It is designed to collapse in the event of a head on collision.

Here is how I went about and did mine.
Copied...
Should be able to remove bolt and then compress shaft to get out. Most shaft will not compress due to rusted together. With the shaft in a vise and a hammer, I got it to seperate.

I had to use a punch on this to get to seperate along with trying to compress it with a rubber hammer. Finally got it. I cleaned it up and it is operating great now. I do have a spare that I might use instead.

I got the steering extension off, lowered the cab, and now the top of the steering shaft is rubbing on the top of the firewall.

Doesn't seem like shortening/lengthening the shaft will help because the angle will stay the same. The cab should be close to stock ride height. Why is it rubbing like the angle is too steep?

Got it working. I just loosened both ends and beat on it with a hammer. There is just barely enough for it to clear now.
