white smoke AFTER headgasket repair

I got everything buttoned up on my headgasket repair last night and I just got it running again, but I'm getting a decent amount of white smoke from the tailpipe... is it possible I have a coolant hose running in the wrong place? Hopefully it's not my brand new headgasket, I don't even want to consider that yet.

Did you replace one or both HGs? If one, are you certain the problem was only with the one?

Yup, be sure.
White exhaust smoke, especially with a known head/head gasket problem can be coolant pulled into the cylinder(s) and burned.
I've seen that a lot with cracked heads/blown head gaskets.
It's often to dead give away...

Happened to me too.
Let it run about 30 minutes....it might clear up.

Yeah, that's it.. and if I would have thought about it a bit it makes sense. When I had it in the garage before I tore it apart, it was running but blowing coolant across the garage... so I unbolted the exhaust and started it and there was no (or little) smoke. I bolted the exhaust back up and it was like a pink floyd concert... my halogen lights on the floor, smoke everywhere.. I was waiting for the guitar solo :)

It lasted about 20 minutes, so ZUK is right, and after about a month of evenings.. my headgasket is done :)

Mine was pretty much like that too, not that bad but for a few minutes it did steam a little... My guess is it was just water that had accumulated in the cat converter and the muffler that finally got steamed out!
