Rhino lining on body of truck/4runner

I am thinking about fixing some rust on my 4runner and then painting a 4" strip of Rhino liner along the bottom of the body to cover it up. If anyone else has put Rhino liner along the bottom of their truck or runner I'd like to see a pic of it to see how it looks. If you did it are you happy with it?

Just so you know you can't put rhino liner on yourself. The do it yourself stuff is called herculiner. Searcy herculiner and you will get lots of threads with pictures.

thanks

I actually bought my truck with all of the cab and fender covered in bed liner and a flat bed on it. I personally love the look, and it gets plenty of attention.

i used bed liner on my limited flares, they were in bad shape and i wasn't going to pay 600 dollars to have them repainted then just have them destroyed again in the next year. i say go for it, iam happy i did it.

What color were your limited flares before you herculined them? Mine are starting to show some where and I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Don't really want to repaint them either.

i don't know the color(i cant find any pictures of the old color but it was bluish) the paint on the body of my 4runner is 1A1 Anthracite Metallic.

i didn't want to repaint them either ,cost too much money and i off road too much to justify keeping the 4runner "nice"

I'm still not really sure about posting pictures up even being a member for well over a year now, but i herculined my rocker/rear tailgate and i love it, and just like zsimp said, it definitely gets a lot of attention!

I've seen a couple rigs rhino lined on the rocker panels and like the look. After wheelin today, I was considering pulling my carpet kit I just put in and Rhino lining the interior floor of the cab cus there was so-oo much mud today. If hiding rust, IMHO sand, primer then paint, or go with undercoating..3m has a good brand and it's 3 dollars a can.

bed liner

No pics but I used the spray on bed liner from A & A auto $ 11 a can, two cans needed to do the bottom part of truck looks good well worth the $22.
Thinking of doing the hood and tail gate next

Bedliner Paint

I used Duplicolor bedliner to paint my truckbed, rocker panels and rear fender behind the wheels last fall. The rockers and fenders were spot rusty...so I sanded clean, bondo'ed some spots, primed and painted with bedliner. The bed held up pretty well, just a few rusty spots through the paint. But the rockers and fenders have rusted back thorugh the paint and bondo! I would recommend trying Rust Encapsulator (Eastwood Co.) or POR-15 if you have some rust spots...then paint using bedliner. The rust finds a way to oxygenate and rust through normal painting methods. Short of cutting out and replacing sheet metal, you should try to encapsulate the rust spots first. Otherwise, you may end up redoing the work a year or two later (like me). Of course I live in Ohio, where the salt flows all too freely on the winter roads. Milder climates might not be as likely to rust through so quickly. I'll try to post some pics when I'm done redoing the rust spots. Right now it looks pretty ugly!

I'm thinking of doing this to my mirrors and the black trim on the removable top on my Runner. From doing some reading, I've read cons are it may get tacky or gooey in the summer's heat. Has anyone had this experience? What about the "fading" I've read about as well? I bought this Krylon spray paint that leaves a rough/anti skid finish, but I can't decide which to use... Should I return that for the Herculiner? Or just use that? ...

Before I had my front bumper made.. Man I need to take some new pics. Lining is kinda faded and gives it that grey look.. I kinda like it though..
