I went to autozone and got some of that glue they use to glue a windshield back onto a vehicle. It's a black almost like silicone stuff. Anyway, I pressed the metal slides on the bottom and had to use a rubber mallet to get them on all the way. Right before I did that I coated all surfaces with a thin layer of that stuff. So far it has done the trick for me.

i would have used clear silicone. or urethane

black silicone will show up..butyl makes an insane mess

navyredneck 04-29-2007 07:32 PM

I don't care if it shows up because it's on the channel guides which are on the bottom of the window and never show. Outside of tearing apart your door have you ever seen a channel guide? :hillbill:

Seriously, if I had known what the stuff was I would have used silicone because it's cheaper but that's because I'm a redneck and like to save a dollar. So in that sense, I agree with you, 89macrunner.

Whatever you use will probably be okay. Just make sure it's something that will stick to both glass and metal and will have some elastic properties and not just crack everytime there's a little movement and you actually need a material that can be removed (think of your next broken window replacement).

Show us some pictures when you're done. I was doing a thread on here and then my wife deleted all the pictures I took the day I put it back together...

ill probably try the windshield stuff.
