problem with larger tires

I have an 88 base pu 2wd 4 speed. I have been running 215-60R15's all around and have now installed 235-70R15 on the rear. I have been checking and was told that these tires will not fit on the front. The distance from top of rim to wheel well is 7". I was told I need 15". Thru checking past posts, I have found out that my torsion bars are not adjusted properly. As a matter of fact, they are adjusted very very soft probably by previous owner to get a soft ride.
I have read about adjusting the torsion bar, and I have made plans to adjust them.
Is it possible to adjust the torsion bars to get the additional 8" of height? I really do not want to install a height kit. I would really like to go to the bigger 15" wheels.

be careful with the measurements and make sure your measurements are for the 2wd, because the 4wd's measurement and also the fenders are different. I have 13.5" from my 15" wheel to my fender on my 4wd. Plenty of clearance for my 31" tire which is a heck of alot bigger than those 235's.

from the top of the 215's to the wheel well, I have 3 1/2" for the tire to bounce before hitting the fender. With the 230's, I will have about 1" of clearance before the tire will hit the fender.

with the torsions maxed out on a 2wd you will clear the 235s but when you hit a big bump or turn to full lock they will rub on the wheel well/fire wall. i had to do a 2'' body lift and pound the pinch weld flat to clear them with no rubbing. however the trucks ride quality was the harshest ride i have ever felt in any vehicle.
