Power Steering Pump Rebuild Question....

When yall replaced all the seals in yalls powersteering pump during a rebuild did the kit contain an e clip and 2 rubber gaskets not used? Are these parts used on the 22re PS pump but not the 3vze?

Reason being I took my PS pump COMPLETELY apart and replaced EVERYTHING I could. Even the TFSM only has one replacing 5 or 6 pieces.

Bumpin' Yota 12-20-2006 05:45 AM

Well? Is the rebuild kit meant for both the 22re and the 3vze hence the extra new parts I couldnt find?

The Toe Cutter 12-20-2006 09:29 AM

Do you show the rebuild kit as prt #A30-07-G8 ;04446-20031 ?
I did mine recently (3.0) and I'm pretty sure I used all the parts, but I can't tell you for sure.

Someone has to have done it recently and can confirm......

I think I used all the parts in my kit. There are a lot of different kits and I had 3 different part numbers for it from 3 different dealers. I finally got a couple of different dealers to agree on one part# so that's the one I ordered. They should use your VIN# to order the correct kit.

Take a look here to see if you missed anything.

I got everything except for the "hidden" seal on the backside inside surface of one of the plates. But i still have an e clip and NO idea where it goes! LOL

Yeah that one is pretty hard to see.

Hello im just wondering if it is werth rebulding my powerstering pump or to just get a new one if so were can i get a rebuild kit

mt_goat 12-26-2006 07:18 AM

Well I guess it depends on how much time you have. It was defininely worth it to me. The kits are a dealer special order thing.

Oh boy, spare parts when you get done with the rebuild.......hmmm, probably shouldn't have left overs.....

I'm getting ready to do this myself....

Back to life.
I also have those spare parts. I found where the lager o ring goes. I can not figure out where the smaller o ring and pinch ring goes. Does one go around the flow control valve. Maybe I was given the wrong parts. My kit did not come with the small copper fitting at the air control valve either. Any help is great!

I had the two o rings and clip left over too. One o ring goes bottom of reservoir, but I had just replaced it and saved the kit one. Never could find the clip in parts drawing or FSM. Almost missed the one the shaft goes through in front of pump housing or was it on the shaft itself?

Not sure about everyone else, but my kit came with a drawing showing that the larger o rings are same size but different material and indicated where each one goes. 2 orings were in a bag within the bag and one o ring in another bag. The one on back plate is different material but same size as the vane o rings on each end of it. I tried a NAPA kit and it still leaked, got the Toy kit and now it's dry as a bone a month later.

My kit was 04446-20031

Did mine a couple weeks ago. Same 2 spare parts. The o-ring is the exact same that goes under the reservoir. That wierd lookin' clip, who knows? I didn't think of using RTV for the air control valve, no new copper fitting in my kit either. I did have to tighten it very tight to get it to stop leaking there, and at the pressure port union.

I was looking in the manual and there seems to be a few different pumps. I found the clips location on the other pump. They gave me that parts for that pump I guess. Here are my leftovers.

For the newb please define RTV thanks...

texsurfer 05-18-2007 09:18 AM

RTV= Room Temparature Vulcanizing. RTV silicone or gasket maker means it cures at room temperature, etc.

95RunnerSR5 05-18-2007 09:35 AM

mick cassidy 01-14-2010 07:39 PM
