Trace power and ground from the outlet to their respective sources. No easy way, just follow those wires!

haha YEah i will need a couple hours to do that.. i need that thing working though. one day i turned on a hand heater that hooked up to it and it just turned off on me and all the fuses are good so ill trace the wires.

trouble shoot, start at the fuse panel and if you have power there there is an issue between the panel and the outlet. check the plug itself, and the connections when i got my truck the power outlet didn't work and it ended up being that the guy before me had the dash apart and didn't put the wires back on there tabs.

also i am not sure on trucks and 4 runners but on my girlfriends 2000 corolla and the power outlet radio and clock where all on the same fuse.

or just wire up a new one.

don't use AC devices on a DC plug?

stockwell45 12-24-2009 02:15 PM

same thing happened to me. i just gave up and wired a new one. wired it straight to the battery and make it a full time outlet comes in very handy

Elton 12-24-2009 02:32 PM

yeah i would just rewire the back of the outlet and just move it throught my firewall to the battery and bam??

should i use a ground of anything or the fure make it okay??

Elton 12-24-2009 02:41 PM

ya there should be a firewall plug on the pass side somewhere as for the ground could find a spot on the radio frame use a ring terminal and self tapping screw

or icould just use the stock ground lol ill pull my dash out and just do it. since its xmas and all lol i have wire and fuse plugs and all.

I GOT A 8000K WINCH FOR XMAS. but im not supposed to know haha.

stockwell45 12-24-2009 02:47 PM

for the ground wire you can take off the side of the center console and any of those large 12mm bolts that go into the frame should work great for the ground wire. that way you dont have to run another wire through the firewall
