I'm at a loss, help please
86 Toyota with bad oil pump.
After trying to pop the bolt loose with the starter, the a dang 19mm bolt head is now rounded and I can't get a grip enough to work with it anymore (I was using 6 sided socket). Spent last 2 hours with impact hammer on the outside edge trying to get it to break loose and move- nothing. It's on TIGHT. I am at a loss now as to how to get this bolt off. Suggestions? Thanks in advance. |
Maybe a vise grip and the starter trick?

These work great, I think everyone should have at least one set. |
Round bolt now, huh? Well, you could go to sears and get those really sweet bolt remover thingys...I'm too cheap for that. Here's some thoughts:
-hammer the next size smaller socket on(try a standard size socket) -use a grinder and make new sides to the bolt head -use pb blaster -instead of the starter method, put the tranny in 5th or park. Then use something to jam the brake pedal to the floor. Should be about 24" in length I think. -use the search function on this site... -good luck!!! |
Another thing I just thought of. Weld a different bolt on top of that one.
