Fiberglass Q - making a cab floor
I guess this Q is for Slacker / Toyota Fiberglass
The first project is a trans tunnel cover. The idea is to make a DIFFERENT trans tunnel to deal with -- flat belly? -- trans brake -- dual case -- triple stick (needs clearance) -- R151 swap (its further forward) The thought was that I could add some foam etc to the top of the tunnel carve it to the shape I wanted smooth it pull a mold cut the tunnel out pull a part from the mold rivit the part back to the floor Assuming I space the rivits close together etc.. (say every 1in or so) will the tunnel would be strong enough? People on Pirate4x4 think the tunnel will crack. Seeing what your beds do - I think that it depends on the Mat and Resins used.. So Q: good idea or bad The second project is to make an entire floor section and rivit it in to the good parts of the OEM metal. Is that even feasible? Or is it really necessary to add metal reinforcements? |
