Engine chirp... possible bad bearing?

Not sure if any of you have experienced this or know the culprit... sound is heard through all gears while accelerating and when pulling the throttle cable in neutral. I’ve been told it could be a bad bearing. The engine was rebuilt but I’m not sure to what extent or how long ago and way too much silicon was used on reassembly however I’ve taken the valve cover off and everything seems to be ok, lots of oil everywhere, not burning any, slight glaze of oil around the pan and that’s about it. I have yet to redo timing since installing the Weber and recently purchased feeler gauges to check valve clearances.

Could be rod knock. Pull one plug wire off at a time and see if it stops making the sounds. Could be timing knock too if your timing is way out of wack. Check engine oil for fine metal shavings.

Will do thanks. I was unsure because it’s very loud when I’m in 1-3 gears, get a lot of rubber necking, and it’s got such a high note chirp rather than a knock I thought was associated with rods/bearings. Also the sound has been going on for a while, I bought it in May this year and has gotten a little worse over time since I initially thought it was pulley or clutch related. But now it’s very constant, doesn’t seem to get worse or better with sea foam, Lucas, or Metal Lube. I’ve pulled the belts and sound still goes and had an Aisin clutch kit installed only 2k miles ago.

Mechanics stethoscope, long screwdriver, wooden dowel... Just about anything solid you can press against various bits if the engine while keeping your head out of the danger zone..

Don't guess where the sound is, listen and it will tell you.
