EFI Fuse blowing
Hello. I drive a 1993 Toyota 4Runner. i was driving to work, all highway miles, when i noticed my rpms were high. i tried making it to work, but about 30 seconds out of town, my rpms dropped to 0, and the engine stayed on. i assumed it had overheatted due to low coolant, but i filled the coolant and the engine just cranks. The EFI fuse had blown, i replaced it and tried cranking again. The fuse instantly blew, and no fuel would get to the engine. I checked my O2 sensor and the wire going up into the chassis looked good, so im not sure what would be causing the short in the fuse. i did check the main wire from the positive battery terminal to the fuse box, and it was quite melted, just the tape was melted though. not sure if this effects anything though |
A problem well-stated is almost solved, but you have contradicting statements...

Yes, describing your problem well to people who may be thousands of miles away will affect how effectively they can help you. Pls see signature. |
The Tach Quit but the engine was still running ??

I mean the RPMs dropped to 0, but the engine stayed on, just like I said. Common for overheating as the engine wouldn’t want to burn out. The tape was a goo over the wire, i haven’t had time to check the wires internals. Once you have the chance to inspect your engine and can put us in front of your truck, and let us know what you see, hear, feel, smell about it we'll talk. See signature. |
