clutch won't release
Hey guys I've read similar post and took the advice given there but problem is still there my clutch won't release I have a new master slave rubber hose and hard lime ran almost a quart of fluid through it trying to get bled used asin parts I haven't took the clutch mounting plate out yet but looks like it's been welded before have adjustment rod adjusted as far as it can go has new shifter seat and socket but press clutch and won't go into gear
Did the clutch bracket break??
If it is not the Clutch Hydraulics then it is sorry to say most likely The clutch itself. Be sure to double check every thing before starting to pull the transmission out.:coffee: |
Have you been able to put it in gear since you installed the new seat?
Will go into gear with engine shut off but won't fully release when I replaced the seat I don't replace socket had wrong part and parts store had already closed
I'll have to pull the bracket out out and check it may be a factory weld I saw
You don`t need to pull the bracket unless you really want to.
Getting into position to remove the bracket just push the pedal with your hand easy to see the bracket flex if it is broken. Have a helper push the clutch while watching to see if the clutch Fork is moving like it should.:wrench: |
The clutch fork moves about 1 1/2 to 2 inches haven't actually measured bracket dosent look like it's broken. How bad is the clutch fork about breaking?
I would think pretty rare with all the Toyota 4x4`s built:wrench:
Is it possible that the clutch fork pivot ball broke?
Did you adjust the master pushrod freeplay to 1mm-5mm when you put the master in? Is this a new clutch too?
Old clutch don't know how many miles are on it pedal is adjusted as far as I can go and still has to much free play I'm gonna pull the tranny in the next day or so I'm thinking the clutch is bad it's pretty much the only thing left but no money wasted everything I replaced needed it
Next question how do I know what clutch to buy the truck is a 90 Idk what year the engine and trans are it's got a 22r in it 5spd 2wd

When yall are measuring free play are you measuring to the point that there is some resistance or to when you can feel the throw out bearing engage the clutch fingers
Thanks for the pic I'll have to measure everything tonight
Well pulled the trans out clutch was completely gone absolutely no friction material left the throw out bearing shot and pilot bearing also shot have the clutch kit ready to go in but the clutch fork pivot ball is also broke where can I get a new pivot ball I've not been able to find one on line
Used or maybe the dealer.
You know with all these Clutches I changed on these never once did the free play need adjusted. |

Well after driving for 6 hrs round trip to get the only pivot ball in the state of ky I'm about to go pit everything back together I'll let yall know how it works out
Every Clutch I change gets new Hydraulics as well I guess I should have stated that as well.
Why people install a new clutch without them go figure. |
Well didn't get to it last night gonna go tackle it today, I'd it normal on the 90 model 2wd pickups for the transmission cross member to be welded in and it looks welded from factory theres no bolt holes
2wd is really different then a 4x4 you could be correct but it would be a pain to get the transmission out.
Never been under one. |
Well new clutch, pilot bearing and hub, new pivot ball, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, hydraulic hose, new hard line, new trans oil, and shifter seat clutch now works properly and goes into gear still waiting for new bushing so still alot of play but all in all operates pretty good
