ARB/TJM mounting after SAS
wondering if those that have the bumpers and have done a SAS could post up pics of how you modified the mounting, especially those who still use it to winch. I've seen several ARB guys with solid axles but never a TJM, does anyone know someone thats done it?
TIA :king: |
I've got a SAS , TJM and a winch. :great:
Had to do some cutting and welded a few different brackets across the cross member. Not to bad. I did cut off more than I needed and would do it slightly differently if I was to do it again... but it works. I'll try and take some detail pics and post up over the weekend. |
thats what i wanted, someone that "would do it different the second time". better to learn from other people's experience. I'd really appreciate the pics.

Snapped some pics.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f15/Elvota/TJM.jpg Basically, you loose the bolt holes at the frame where the SAS is welded... so the TJM only has mounts to the side. To compensate, I welded a bracket on each side. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f15/Elvota/TJM-1.jpg The thing I would do differently is the cutting of the TJM bracket. You have to cut off the lower lip that rolls under the frame. I thought I had to cut the entire length, but you really only need to cut two pockets for the SAS hanger to notch into. If I had left the rest un-cut, I think I would have had a cleaner look and more metal to weld/ attach. You'll see what I am talking about when you get ready to hang the TJM. That said, the route I ended up taking is working very well and I don't have any complaints. |
thank you for the pics

I have a SAS with the TJM as well. I will get you some pictures tomorrow. Mine is setup a littel differently. I will explain when I post the pic

When I did my SAS I made sure that the front spring perch was out about 1/4" of an inch. After everything was done I trimmed the bracket setup for the TJM down until the bracket sat right on top of the front spring perch level. After I had the bumper on and everything was where it was supposed to go I welded the bracket to the spring perch and to the frame in several places. Made it a long stronger. Here is a couple of pictures so you see what I am talking about. Hope this helps.
