which add-a-laef is better???

so as soon as the weather warms up here in the northeast :bang: i'm going to be fixing the saggy butt porblem with my 89...i.e. the add-a-leaf solution...but which brand should i get and waht size...i don't want to add a leaf and have my butt end a ton more stiffer because of it...so i'm looking for input...thnxs alot :bigok:

i used trialmaster short aal
measured 4" after i put it in
(i also took out the overload spring)
had it in about a week now
i have yet to drive it
(no drive train at all)

V_Runner 02-27-2006 11:13 AM

how good are the Rancho aal???

brandontrek 02-28-2006 06:46 AM

i have heard that the rancho's are the best to go with...i think they come with 4 leafs...so you can mix and match depending on the ride quality desired

Tacoclimber 02-28-2006 06:51 AM

I have Pro-Comp, and I'm pretty happy with it. When the bed is totally empty, it's a little on the stiff side, but when I've got it loaded with all my bikes, boards, and camping and climbing gear, it rides pretty nice. I have also heard pretty good things about Ranchos... I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the longer the AAL, the less stiff.... But I might have that backwards... I'm sure someone will elaborate... :D Good luck. :great:

Silver_Truck 02-28-2006 09:22 AM

i think deaver makes a multi leaf AAL too

V_Runner 02-28-2006 10:17 AM

i looked up the Ranchos and they are $45.89 with out shipping and that includes the 2 short aal and 4 center bolts...i think i might go with that...

Not a bad deal... :great:

brandontrek 02-28-2006 10:50 AM

tacoclimber you were right...the longer the leaf the softer the ride....

bob200587 02-28-2006 11:14 AM

I didn't notice a change in ride quality. I have 3" superlift AALs and whatever change it made was definatly for the better.
