89 3.0 wont start

truck wont start. all i hear is the starter clicking. so what should i look for/ do to try and get her up n running.

also could cold weather be the culprit? only gets about 30-40'f here at night

Is it one click or is it clicking? If its one click, replace your starter contacts. Google it and you'll find write ups. Not sure about the 3vze, but its common on the 22r(e).

If its clicking, your battery may be bad (bad weather could be to blame for this). I would first clean the battery terminals and starter terminal.

1. Check battery voltage with a voltmeter before and when you are turning the key.

a. If voltage good, look at the cables/connections, then look into the starter

b. If voltage bad, try to charge/jump the battery and see if it takes a charge, if it does not, you need a battery.

Truck wont start? Or starter will not turn over.

Click click means bad starter, or bad battery. usually bad starter when you get the click click

it's doing the click click click click and click some more thing.

could be batter though, ill check that first

changed the battery and now truck is running again but i know the original battery is no more than 2 yrs old with little to almost no use for about 6-9 mnths when i was only driving my other car at the time.

could it be bad alternator?
