22RE Problem.

I put a timing cover gasket on my 22re and i didnt know i had broke the coil wire and when i went go start it something smoked. Well i put a new wire on it and now i have nothing. it's like i have a dead battery, but i have all lights but when i turn the key on no dummy lights come on or anything and the ignition just clicks. I am befuddled. Please and thank you to anyone that can help.

I don't have anything.. radio, dash lights, dummy lights, no ignition at all. I have a dome light and headlights though.

Hows your main fuse look?

Whooker23 01-15-2012 06:12 AM

Any more ideas?

Did you check it? Did you connect everything back up?

Whooker23 01-15-2012 07:12 AM

fuses above the kick panel and under the hood are good?
wiring to the alternator is good?

check the wire from your battery to your fuse box on the passengers side and make sure it has a good, solid connection.also check the ground wire on the back of the engine to the firewall....

The original post points right at the main fuse. You said something was smoking..where was the smoke coming from? Sounds like you are getting power to the starter since you said ignition clicks..But is it your relay your hearing or the solenoid.

Break out a multimeter and start checking for juice starting from the battery to the fuse box under the hood, to the ecu, and to the fuse box under the dash. If you have power to your headlights and dome light then either there is a wire broken/shorted/grounded, or your main fuse is blown.

Check power to ECU with the switch on and see what you find.

Let us know what you find out.

I got it figured out. Thanks guys. Then I wasn't getting spark but now I am getting spark to the number 1 plug wire, but no fuel. Anymore ideas? I've checked all the grounds, and fuses for that.

Awesome. What year was your truck?

How did you check to see you were not getting fuel?

Whooker23 01-17-2012 11:22 AM

It's a 94. I am thinking the ecm might be bad. The fuel pump is kicking on but i am not getting any backfire or anything. i think the ecm isnt letting injectors to spray or the crank sensor or anything to work.
