22re max power

how much power do u think u can make out of a natural aspirated 22re?

what about a supercharged one?

abecedarian 10-20-2008 07:55 PM

140-160 N/A
300-350 turbo'd
1000+ S/C dragster style.
:)

Say its got 90 rwhp now
  • headers and full exhaust might add 10rwhp
  • intake alone <3hp (just enough to be noticeable)
  • OS valves and cam 15rwhp
  • aftermarket ignition 5 wrhp before it burns up

Maybe that nets you about 120 rwhp. Which is more than it sounds. RWHP doesn't tell you much about how it will feel to drive, torque would, but I can't say I've enough info to make those inferences.

I havent done any more than an intake any of this, I've just heard a lot of people say what works

On the subject of forced induction, 7psi boost on a 120hp engine would net about 175hp according to one pound of boost to hp gain calculator.

desert-rat660 10-20-2008 07:59 PM

anyone see the lcengineering supercharger?

abecedarian 10-20-2008 08:01 PM

yup.
I'd expect maybe around 150-200 (possibly more) with it depending on other mods to the engine.

desert-rat660 10-20-2008 08:09 PM

i went from a nissan titan to this 94 truck so im kinda power hungry.. i hate repossesions sucks working in the automotive field right now

Matt16 10-20-2008 08:11 PM

Of course there are methanol fueled 22RE dragsters that make 1000+hp, but that requires some mods.

ozziesironmanoffroad 10-20-2008 08:12 PM

if ur at a tire/mechanic shop its great since people are always going to need tires and stuff. so its recession-resilient. but, out of a naturally aspirated 22re, id say max maybe 150hp. MAX.

a4runnerfreak 10-20-2008 08:13 PM

just don't mention NOS. I'm sure he doesn't wanna Fast&Furious his truck......lol

garcial50 10-20-2008 08:29 PM

LC isn't the way to go, you'll find cheaper parts elseware. They are just way too overpriced

ozziesironmanoffroad 10-20-2008 08:29 PM

NOS is horrible. all it does is screw up your engine.

just a 22re 10-20-2008 08:29 PM

22re's stock dont like nos to much trust me on this one been there tried that

a4runnerfreak 10-20-2008 08:45 PM

I agree, NOS is terrible. For any engine, but I thought I'd get it outta the way be4 some1 else brought it up, and with some rediculess(sp?) story 'bout what they did running NOS. The only descent thing that has the NOS name is the energy drink...........

just a 22re 10-20-2008 08:57 PM

you can take a storker kit big os valves monster cam hot spark big time injectors standalone map instead of flaper and race gas fuel pump i say your at about 275-360hp and about 320-385# but no more dd this rig no more fun oh and try to go off roading with it yeah and after you pay for it all how you going to fill up that gas tank?

lol just a though why not just go slow no more tickets better mile per gallon cool factor (Cause the chicks get time to stare and vice versa) and so on and so on

desert-rat660 10-20-2008 09:07 PM

well id like to have enough power to drive the thing in fifth gear. i like lc's supercharger kit. and they are located right here in town. i think i should free up my exhaust since its the original the cat is probably plugging up.

i like the way you think:D

abecedarian 10-20-2008 09:12 PM

If you've got oversized tires, I'd suggest gearing first.
just my .02

desert-rat660 10-20-2008 09:18 PM

tires arent oversized, the truck has 211,000 miles exhaust is pretty rusty.

Re-gear the diffs to get power, or swap in a bigger engine ;)

This is one thing toyota really biffed it on... the power/weight ratio! Untill the 5vzfe came out at least...

To be honest, the power (lack thereof more accurately) doesn't bother me too much. I don't mind puttering along to my fishing hole, my dog sticking her nose out the window, listening to Brad Paisley, or or some other country radio doing 80km/h in the slow lane...I end up getting 26mpg.
