1990 4Runner window problem fix
3 Attachment(s)
This is my first post so I figure I should do something useful :nerd: I had a problem with my rear window not wanting to roll down all the time (only when it felt like it) for about a year. It finally stopped working all together before I decided to do something about it. It took me a while to track down the problem but, long story short, it ended up being the relays in the Window Control Unit. I took it out and removed the plastic cover. Looks something like this-
Attachment 89593 Then I de-soldered and removed the relays. Attachment 89594 I went down to the local RadioShack and picked me up four of these- SPDT 9VDC Mini Relay Attachment 89595 |

Here is a pic of the back of the package-
Attachment 89596 The new ones are a bit taller than the stock ones but they still fit. Attachment 89597 Here is what it looks like after I finished soldering them in. Attachment 89598 So I've been running these for over a year and they have performed flawlessly. Hope this helps some people. Good luck!:drink: |

tagged for future ref. btw, got the RS part number? http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2049716 This is the only one I could find online that might work. It's 7-9VDC and the ones I used are 9VDC. They are the same amperage rating so if the posts are the same they should work.:great: |
you dont have a pix of where this control relay box is... all i know is that it is in the left rear quarter panel... somewhere...

Rear window relay fix- 1990 4Runner :horse: Well I wish I would have found this back in the day when I was trying to fix my rear window :con: The pic Matt16 has is useful. You can see that it's kinda behind the little storage compartment on the driver's side. It's on the back side of inner body panel and looks like this- Attachment 89611 |
