My plan to rebuild the 1984 22r. Bore the piston .020 run DOA Metal backed guides with a rv crawler cam. ˟I'm going to buy a rebuilder kit off of˟engnbldr.com I herd good thing about there rebuild kit. I'm going with them. Is there more info do that I need??˟

Rebuild one motor using the two and reuse EFI

:wabbit2:

Wabbit, two different gen's of 22r there. And neither is a 22RE. :D
I think he means the truck was originally a 22RE truck but is now going on it's third engine????

I have posted numerous times on here about the differences between all the motors.

Thank you for have me on yotatech.
My truck was built April 1984 but the pink slip say sold in 1985.I know the motor is not efi it has a Carb on it.

ok then it should be a direct swap. Exhaust ports should be the same between the two motors, if they are not then you have the wrong year on one of the motors. You said the truck was originally an EFI truck? But has a carb'd engine in it and the engine you want to put in is an 84 engine?

supremejosh 06-28-2011 11:09 AM

Sorry for the miss understing my truck was never EFI. Yes I want to put a 1984 22r. I bean researching every body said they are the same engine:-)

xxxtreme22r 06-28-2011 11:10 AM

yup same engine as long as the exhaust ports are round. Just slap the thing in and go. :great:

Here is those differences: http://www.lcengineering.com/TechNotes/?techid=49
