cant find vacuum leak!
 

Hey ya'll! i have an 84 carburated with a weber 38 on top. My truck flooded out on a trail and dieseled a little after shut down. since then my truck barely holds idle. I have to keep the high idle cam engaged in order for it to run or it will slowly start to bog down, then shut off. Also when i stab the gas the engine stays at a higher rev for about 2 seconds before it slowly comes back to idle. Also if i pump my brakes to at a stop, to create vacuum it will bog the idle and shut down...THE IDLE USED TO INCREASE IF I DID THIS BEFORE. This is what makes me think vacuum. My truck is totally desmogged, the only lines i use are from carb to distributor, then distributor to vacuum advance. I have no idea what it is. The carb was jetted and tuned perfect for the last 2 months since my rebuild. Took a trip to the woods, engine flooded, now barely holds idle.

Best way to find a vacuum leak is get a cheapie little propane bottle with a tip...open it up...point tip all around suspected areas while running. When it revs up a little bit....you have found your leak.

^ Same thing can be done with starting fluid. Just dont spray on hot stuff. Fire sucks

Might be too obvious, but give your carb/air filter a couple tugs. You may have a leak in the adaptor between the manifold and the carb.

This was the first thing I changed were the seals on the adapter plates. Today after work I had no clutch until I pumped it about 20 times

OK so now I have to pump the clutch about twenty times to get into first. Also hitting the brakes brings my idle lower. I'm beginning to think the line off my brake booster is leaking.
