adjusting the rear drum brakes

I just rebuilt the rear drum brakes, but I have one question. How should I go about adjusting them?

isn't that procedure listed in the fsm?

Is this really all there is to adjusting it? Just seems like there would be more.

pretty much, some people just use the bellcrank to tighten it up, some people use the e-brake handle while driving in reverse and pull that several times as well. I prefer just manually manipulating the bellcrank till I think it's tight enough where there is just a slight drag between the drum and shoes.

thanks for the input. I'm headin out to bleed the brakes now and then I'll be adjusting them accordingly.

What should the initial drag be? I have to set the cables and the bell crank as well b/c it was completely disassembled cleaned and painted b/c they were rusted through and through. The bell crank wouldn't move at all. Took a lot of pb blaster and a large hammer. I'll start at the spider gear, then the cable will be loosened up a little if need be and then the bell crank. I'm just not sure how to tell how much drag I need between the drum and the shoes when all is at rest.

Thanks for the input. That should do it. I'll most likely be able to get'er all setup with that.

I finished my rear brake job this evening and the instructions in my manual worked fine. I just read those instructions, I'm wondering what I would use to measure the inside diameter of the drum and the outside diameter of the brakes? And be accurate to a tenth of a mm?
