I would think it best to run the codes on your engine first. After you have determined why your check engine light is on ( and repaired the problem ) you will be in a better position to diagnose the tranny.
With computer controllers it's always-"junk in junk out".

where is the hook up for puttin a scan tool on it to check the codes?

Here is the scan tool you will need to purchase.

You use this in the engine bay. Good luck

midyetteracing 03-10-2009 07:03 AM

the OD light does not blink but it does work when u hit the button to turn it on it goes out but when u hit again it comes on and says off but doesnt blink or flash

my light doesn't even work, im currently having problems with the tranny going in overdrive too quick

midyetteracing 03-12-2009 06:21 AM

what does it mean if the light is flashing or not

If it's blinking you have stored codes in the ECT unit.

To get it to flash the codes, you need to ground the small square plug on driver fender.

switch ignition on without starting and OD must be on.

well if it aint blinkin does that mean it aint electrical or could be electrical just not in the computer?
