Need a no stinger aftermarket front bumper for 1st gen who makes em??
Did a brief search and most company's only go back to 1984. Any suggestions for a no stinger bumper like Addicted Offroads??
Looking for one like the one below.. Thanks http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/sscn0028.jpg |
I think you should go with a custom fabbed one man. You did an awesome job on your flatbed, so i know you could come up with one hell of a front bumper.
Or if you arnt up for that, try hitting up Jeff again. He doesnt own a 1st gen, but you may be able to work something out with him. |
THanks for the nice words!
I did consider building one. I don't have a decent shop to do that kind of metalworking at the moment. I am also burned out on working on this truck. I wanted to keep it pretty stock except for the front bumper. |
edit just read pre84...
im should you could mod a allpro/tg/marlin |
No the 1st gens are different and the plate mounts won't line up.
Custom. :guitar: |

Key words here are FIRST GEN....I'm in the same boat as you toyospearo....I think fabbing is pretty much our only option.

allpro list the bumpers for 79-95 trucks. I figured the first gens would be included in that range. The downside is i was just on allpro's site and it said the bumpers are being redesigned and not yet for sale. Maybe contact them and see if they have any for your year make and model. Worth a short phone call. Another option would be talk to scotty at addicted offroad or wabbit to see if they'll custom fab one for you. Marlin might also be a shot if you call them to see if they can fab one for you as well.

you've been exposed to something funky if you think it will be done in a couple of weeks:guitar: Toyo: check out badlands bumpers: http://www.badlandbumpers.com/ when I was looking for bumpers he said he could do one. I know that you are beat from working on the truck but here is what I had done locally based off a Trail-Gear winch mount, if and when I do a winch, I will have to trim the grill. I welded the mount right to the front crossmember. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...zone/004-6.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...zone/008-4.jpg for a $150 it is a great base to work off of.... |
Badland bumpers AKA "Jeff" in my post, is where he got the one on his other truck. Jeff can build anything, as long as he has a truck to base it off of.

I agree with 2Door's idea. It may be better just to draw something up, take it to a metal shop, and let the shop examine your truck and build one custom. Probably would be cheaper than one of the popular brands built and shipped.
|
I still think he should build one himself though;)
But yes, if you cant do that, something custom fabbed would be sweet. You could test out the truck on a road trip up here to wa when you pick it up:D |
Don't want to burn him out too much! Gotta have fun doin this kind of stuff. If you don't you start regretting decisions you've made.

I got lucky on mine and only paid a little over $200 to have my front bumper done and my rear bumper converted to a swing out tire carrier...things were slow for the guy:bigok: |
I paid the same for my front bumper. I got lucky cause the guy didn't have the feel for making bumpers (He is a skilled metal worker though) so he quoted me real low and I got a product that in my opinion is worth much more. All I'm saying is it may be cheaper just to do it locally then to ship.

Doesn't Dave's make 1st gen stuff?
