20r intake setup w/22r head and block... different
Ok so i have this very unusual setup. Its a 1980 4x4 pickup with all the cali specs. those stink by the way.
anyways this truck has a 22r head and block but that is all the 22r-ness that this baby has. the previous owner set it up this way. the intake manifold is held to the head via a home made 1/8 in thick adapter plate and it is really wierd. it has the layout of the 22r intake holes, minus the ports that the 20r intake doesnts have, it has a 20r manifold gasket on one side and a 22r gasket on the other. i works great but i dont like it, i cant get a webber to tune to it because of the intake vacuum leaks due to the adapter. so here is the question i have... with all of the 20r wiring and set up and stuff, can i just put a regular 22r manifold and carb on it/ or am i going to have to change some stuff? |
1/8th inch thick? how does that work?
put a 22r intake and carb on it.. |
find a 20r head port and polish it, slap that on. 20r/22r hybrid FTW. :D Perfect time to do it.

yeah all that plate is, is just an adapter to cover mix matched holes and to preserve the gaskets. otherwise i would be having chunks o gasket in my head.
|
now if i do that, is that all i need to do? i heard there was some machining involved and some work with the cams.
