NO pics of the Jeep. It is RED and looks like every other one on the road :barf:
LOL that was aimed for 'coon huntin' :hillbill:
Actually the nut is hard to get to with the winch and all. I tried to tighten it Friday, but it wouldnt budge. I will pull the bumper off soon and get it tight again!

Definitely will be at the Fall Crawl.

I usually head to Uhwarrie twice a year with the isuzu/honda/toyota/ anything goes group from the wire. Already have my season pass. 5+hr drive for me though.

Looks like things are in the planning stage now. 4x4Wire Uhwarrie Thread

Well URE is 3+ hours for me and its the closest place for me to get to. : )

I am down for that run, as soon as I get my rig fixed from this last weekend.

what's the damage report?

No trail damage, but the passenger side hub stayed locked in after I unlocked it. that meant that the front drive shaft was turning on the highway. The drive shaft let loose (U-joints) half way home and destryoed itself and some other things that were under there like the fuel lines! :chair: . They arent leaking right now, but they are damaged enough to need replacing.

the rear locker is totally gone now and has to be removed and replaced with a new one. We were lucky to make it home the way it was. :D

1985 4Runner 07-25-2006 09:05 AM

Great pics. Glad you guys had a good time. When did you notice the hub was still engaged?

I noticed it as soon as I got up to highway speed. I stopped a couple of times and couldnt get it to come free. So, I drove it like that until it let loose. If it had new U-joints on it, everything would have ben fine, but they were old and worn out. :bang:

Actually that is a Badland bumper. The sticker is from "the badlands" in Attica In. I made a trip there last year and got the sticker. :hillbill:

Here is the website

Talk about ironic. I post on your thread & go out & grenade my u-joint today...luckily I didn't hurt anything else...

1stgenrnrdude 07-29-2006 03:07 PM

dude, you got a nice runner

Jimmeh 07-29-2006 03:29 PM

Did the Jeep take the same line you did on those last few pics, or did it swing to the left? Is it a Rubicon that they have? I would be impressed if they took the same line as you with a stock Jeep.

LOL no they didnt. It is a stock Jeep unlimited. They had a hard time on almost everything. But They had a great time doing it and will be back again with mods to it so they can hang better next time. :great:

therealjeepguy 07-31-2006 04:10 PM

I CANNOT believe you came within 1/2 hr of the house and didn't tell me!!!!!! :saw:
j/k

All aside sounds like you had a good time with the in-laws (always a good thing) bummer on the road damage though.

northfacer581 07-31-2006 05:08 PM

that looks familiar.....i just went there today and did pretty much all trails......daniel, rocky mountain loop, slap pile, wolf den, and dutch jon.

your 4runner is pretty sick.

your 4th/5th pictures (cant remember which trail, today was my first time at uwharrie) is crazy.....me and my friend (cherokee on 35s) flexed on it for a picture, and you simply walk over it.

Thanks. That trail is Falls Dam. Going up it is much better than going down.

I would be up for the October run at UNF. I posted my interest in the thread on 4x4wire.

(Heck, even Jeeps  )

HALLOwharrie ~ October 5th-9th (Thursday-Monday)
The link that Zman posted earlier is for our 'pick a date' thread - Keep an eye on 4x4Wire's Trail Runs Forum for the upcoming event thread.

Until then, here's a little info:
-- There are NO event fees.
-- Attend as many (or as few) days as you like.
-- Trail groups come and go 'whenever' (There are no scheduled trail runs).
-- Trail groups are friendly, helpful, and well-equipped; typically 4 to 10 vehicles in size - and trail selection is suited to vehicle/driver ability (No taking unprepared newbies for a rock-rash 'haze ride' / No peer pressure / No leaving anyone behind).
-- We will be staying at Arrowhead.

If possible your rig should have:
-- CB radio
-- Tow points, front and rear
-- Recovery equipment (a HOOKLESS Tow Strap, D-ring(s), etc.)

OK, so now that you've had a good laugh ( :P ) - why don't you share your impressions of our little UNF get-togethers, seeing as how you and your Taco hardly ever miss one ;)

Cheers!
Smiley

Will,
I thought the 1st gen was a trailer queen now?? What was it doing on the hiway? :nono: Glad you made it back on your own power though! Apart from that the truck is looking good! Be sure and check out the pics from my trip. I just finished the shooting the New Mexico guys and it was quite impressive to say the least. I think we all need to make a week long trip and come out here some time. If we get a few tow rigs and all go about 60 it shouldn't be TOOO bad on gas. Anyway, looking forward to the Fall Crawl! Glad to hear all is well and you didn't scare the in-laws away! :great:

Trailer Queen? No not here. I wanted it to be, but bought an 06 Harley instead. :great: So now it will pull double duty and make the trip along with the trails just like always. :great:
