I have a similar issue in my 90, I have a "Toyota" key that opens drivers side and does ignition and I have a copied key that opens shotgun. My tailgate window didn't work until a couple weeks ago...

When I bought my 90 4runner it had no dashlights, hvac lights and shifter lights(auto).

I checked fuses and the dimmer, turned out all the bulbs were gone. Replaced then all with long life...
