it's been a week now since we put n new engine , still pretty tight , it only has 230miles on it.kinda weird driving n the slow lane .everything seems fine not burning any oil (it shouldnt). no leaks ,just gas mileage went down? i guess engine being tight still can't post picks yet, i guess it my ps3 !

IIRC, I paid like $19 for it, it seemed to fit like the original with the exception of one of the clip deals being in the wrong place, no big deal. Still working OK today !

i decided not to get the toyota head gasket. it took about 20 miles for all the steam to burn out of the exhaust. i was so paranoid. i was sure that it was f'd. all's good.

Hey man, my engine is actually original - not rebuilt, yet anyway. I did do the HG and timing set at 200k (250k on it now).

I'm very happy with the mileage, however I live in WY where vehicles seem to get a couple more MPG than elsewhere - something to do with the altitude I'm told (they run leaner up here).

I had the exhaust welded up by a local outfit, ran me ~$200 if I remember right. They did a pretty good job, but I'm not terribly pleased with the muffler (too quiet, heh) and they didn't use all the factory hanger locations, instead substituting their own locations. This cause early failure of the hangers, and eventually pulled the muffler apart from the strain.

All that is to say if you have one custom made, ask around first and get a good shop to do it for you, and if you can have them use the factory hangers it'd be best IMO.

    Good luck with your project.

i'm headed over to engnbldr's this morning, 1/2 hour away, to pick up the rock top end kit for the random gaskets. then i'm probably headed over to toyota for an oem head gasket after that. i'm going to talk to todd about it, but i don't want to be digging in again in 6 months. i seem to be losing it between #3 and #4. who knows why.

The 4runner mirrors should fit the truck, you can use the power mirrors and just adjust them manuelly to where you want them and leave them. Getting the chromed units only come in the power version, at least as from what I have found. If you decide you want a set, let me know. I am currently out of stock, but should have another set in a month or two. The mirrors have 3 bolts that that attach thru the door with the black plastic cover on the inside as well.

I got the parking light and blinker housing with clear covers on ebay. It was like 40 bucks or something. And thanks for the compliment.
