What year is your truck? If it is a 89-95 it will probably work, but i dont know for sure. It is pretty simple to pull the dashes on these trucks, they are held on by a few screws that are very easy to get to. i know there are A LOT of SR5 guage swaps on here. I would go for it man, do some research on the forum for the swaps and se what you can come up with.

Heck ya man, they are pretty sought after, but junk yards may not know that and you might be able to get a pretty good deal. Whatever they charge you will probably be A LOT cheaper than having a brand new gear set put in.

I reccomend you read this thread and you will learn quite a bit about the swap from this one. - https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-few-s-161361/

(2nd) I hear you on regearing! it was pretty dang expensive to have it done (i think around $600 when i sent the rear diff to Zuk), but im glad i went to him and had it done right by a highly reputable person. I had a problem with the diff about a year after i had them put in and i sent it to him and he fixed it for free AND payed for shipping from GA to AZ and back. The man stands wholeheartedly behind his work. I was able to find a front diff that was already 5.29s and had a lock-right installed for $320 from a guy that was doing a SAS. Granted when i did all this i was a student in HS and didnt have to worry about insurance and stuff, parents had me covered.

Yes, you can find stock 4.88s in 2nd gen 4runners that came stock with 3.0/A340H/31" tires. This is what you want to look for on the door jamb -

(read this one 1st) No problem dude, to be honest, the only reason im running 5.29s is because when i had the auto i had to regear extra low to compensate for the OD that is in the autos (which is like .72:1!!!!). Dont get me wrong, I LOVE the 5.29s and the get up and go that i have from them not to mention 4L offroad is pretty dang low with this combo.

I think 4.88s might be a little better RPMs wise and being able to cruise with them a little bit lower, but im pretty happy with what i have. I do plan on stepping up to a 35" tire at some point so i should be pretty good with the 5.29s and and those tires.

aww dang gotcha just try to find one that is as close to your year as possible or as close to stock as yours was (auto, 31s, 4.88s, etc) and take that one. ill try to get a pic for you as soon as possible and post it up to show you.

Get some gears in that thing and you will LOVE it. i think im getting around 18-20 in mine right now. im running 33s and 5.29s with the 3.0/R150F. Love how i can do this well in a truck that is built a lot like mine. makes me all happy inside.

Hey Brando, my speedo does currently work. Since my truck is an 88 the speedo sensor was already manual so i just ended up taking the sensor out of the automatic and putting it in the 5 speed. They are interchangeable i believe, try that on yours. I have the same instrument panel, didnt have any problems with it at all. Only thing is with my gears, tires, and swapped tranny, the speedo is like 15 mph off haha. It indicates im going 15 mph faster than im actually going.

What kind of mileage are you getting with your truck?
