bruin91, sorry I'm so late getting back to you. The rotor WILL come off, you might have to get aggressive with it. I'm assuming you have a 3.0, so my comments will relate to that. I dont know if my readings for the coil were affected or not because of the rotor being shot, but I replaced the coil anyway. I got my test procedures from a Chilton's Toyota manual, but I'm sure if you check out the FSM links you'll find the procedures. Kind of a lot to explain here, but if you still have problems, I'll try to explain it.
I've had rotors poop on me in other vehicles that acted the same way as it did on my 'runner, funny I didn't put two and two together.
    Regards, Rick

    Hello mt4ruuner

I was searching around the web for a solutions to my problem and it sounds like I am having the same problem as you. My '91 is my daily driver, right now it cranks but doesnt start. I had a machanic look at it but it was really quick, said it was my eitehr my coils or distributor cause my meter has short prongs to test the coils. I was looking at replacing the rotor, which I was told comes right off? it doesnt in my car, so I was wondering how you change your distributor rotor? and how you tested the voltage for the coils or distributor? sorry if I sound stupid with cars but im a noob with cars..
