stupid fuel filter argh!

Trying to replace my fuel filter on the 3.slow and the line nuts wont budge. I started to round one off, so Im going to try to get a line wrench. I even soaked them with liquid wrench last night and let it sit. I think Im going to have to take the cross member off, but the bolts that connect the rubber mount to the tranny seem impossible to get to Maybe its more trouble then its worth!!!

Sittin on my feul filter still in the box. Tried it just like you and started to round one of the inline nuts. Mind you, I just got done doing a full rebuild of the engine and this is still too hard for me.

It wasn't easy. Took about half an hour. If the bolts are starting to round off now is the time for a break!!! Pull up all my posts from my profile...In one I described what tools I used. Good luck!!!

Hey guys...I did it just a bit ago on my 91. PITA....one thing I did get with the line nuts was to loose the back one first then hold the front line nut with a wrench while turning the whole fuel filter with a 19 mm wrench. hope this helps

Oh here it is. Yeah did mine the same way AW. I loosened the filter from the frame first so I could move it around a little bit to keep the fuel lines straight while loosening them.

It definitely is tight in there!!! hehehee:

You'll need a 3 inch extension and a universal joint for the socket...I think I used two...the whole procedure took a half an hour...
