Is there any bronze or copper in w56 tranny or rear diff?

There is bronze in tranny syncros, none in diffs, or in R1A transfer cases.
I have heard there may be some sort of syncro in the chain drive t-cases, but I've never had one apart.
If I may ask: What is your interest??

Sorry just now seeing your response, my interest is not wanting to use a fluid that’s not compatible with yellow metals. So for my transmission I will stick with a Gl4 and not a gl5 being that at one point gl5 has additives that would eat away at your yellow metals. Not sure if today’s gl5 does this but just wanted to be safe. After more research I found that our trannys work best with a Gl4 anyway.

Wow that is ate up, I browsed through and seen jake and just assumed I had started the thread because I remember I was asking this or a similar question not long ago. That’s just crazy that my response was right on with your thoughts. Seeing jake with the thread title Was enough for me to think it was my thread. Wow totally hilarious

that makes sense.. was starting to think I was doing things in my sleep lmaoBack on topic and more specifically, I use redline mt90 in everything and was wondering if I should be using a gl5 instead. But since my tranny likes to leak into my tcase and apparently has bronze synchros I suppose its best if I just keep everything the same all around for now..

Ain’t there a gasket between the 2? Reason I ask is how can you tell it’s leaking into the t case?? Seems like it would have to leak enough to fill the space in between the 2 up to the shaft to get into the t case. I have no idea what it looks like inside once pulled apart though so am just curious how you know the tranny is leaking into the t case??

I thought about maybe tapping some type of fitting onto the tranny and tcase fill plugs to attach a hose to so the fluid could make its way back into the tranny. Which I also noticed some people have done, BUUUUUTTT, I dont remember exactly what issue some had doing that, I think something about pressure or the angle just makes fluid flow from the tranny to tcase on both sides without a pump (wouldnt a check valve work perhaps?) or something to push the fluid from tcase to tranny.. I'll see if I can find that info again.
