My 1990 4Runner with the 3vze failed emissions and advice I got indicated a few things that I've been working on. One of them was to change the ancient plugs and wires. So I did that, now the car won't even idle. I can't get it to do anything but run rough. was able to kind of check the timing while working the throttle to keep it going and it appears to be in the right-ish place, but it jumps around because the engine won't run smoothly. I keep putting new parts in this thing only to have it run continually worse and worse and I think I'm following the directions, but there's obviously some important thing I'm missing.I appreciate any ideas to fix this thing up to and including dynamite.

 

Double check that spark plug wires weren't swapped?

 

I followed them all back. I also found a big crack in my intake duct. Taped it up and it seems to work, so there's another new part I need.
